    Good Signs?

A big feather in your cap would be to walk into those congressional nomination interviews with a 3Q letter in your file. Get it done! Best of luck to you!

    How do I stack up?

845something is correct....not to mention the classes you are taking. You should be taking the most challenging classes available. Have you taken the SAT? Would recommend taking both SAT and ACT. Train for the CFA. You want to do better than average. Good luck to you!

    Recruiting for USMA

Jspar16, I'm pretty confident that these opportunities are only available to upperclassmen, but there will be plenty of time to check with your chain of command after the academic year has started. This usually allows the cadet to extend their leave a couple of extra days to do presentations at...

    R Day Report Time

topnotch, if you haven't already I would strongly encourage that either you or your wife (preferably both) join the West Point Class of 2018 Parents Facebook page. You will find the answers to all of your questions from the West Point liaison Debra Dalton. Although this forum is GREAT, the...

    R Day Report Time

topnotch an hour ahead of your CC's report time should be fine. You can park in the Buffalo Soldier lot. A bus should come by about every 15 minutes to take you to Ike Hall for reporting. Also know that your CC can report early...just not late! Best of luck to your DS in slaying the BEAST!

i Pad for Class of 2018

IPad Air famof8, initially the IPads will be used for the history and military science classes. As time goes by, they will add more. I would suggest the IPad Air over the mini due to screen size. The 64GB should be more than sufficient and definitely with wifi.

    Dual citizenship?

    Insight Of Class 2018 Profile

DIVERSITY It appears diversity was a main goal for the Class of 2018. Big increase in the female percentages, along with an increase in African Americans and Prior Enlisted. It should be a GREAT class! Go Army! Beat Navy!

    Computer Science vs. Electrical Engineering

Usma red book Colinmcd, check out the RED BOOK on the USMA website. It will give you the classes required for each major. During your plebe year, you will talk to professors and heads of departments to help you decide what is best for you. The recruiting tactics can get pretty humorous if...

    USMA vs. AROTC Scholarship

There is a lot of information about this out there. Ask your DS to do his homework so he can come to an informed decision, which like you said is ultimately his to make. With the downsizing of the military as a whole, I do question the opportunities that lie ahead for these young soldiers. I...

    Being a Corps Athlete

Not really clear what your question is here topnotch, but I can assure you that time management is an essential skill for each and every cadet at West Point whether a corps athlete or non-corps athlete. There are many activities and clubs that require or should I say give cadets opportunities...

    lol any good news anyone?

Those applicants that have been deemed fully qualified and are on the NWL, BUT are too far down on the list to feasibly be considered for an appointment either have already or will be receiving the TWE. There are others high on the NWL that could still conceivably be offered an appointment once...

    April 15 Deadline

I know there is also a deadline on medical waivers, but I'm not sure what that exact date is so I won't post it here. If your candidate has not been in contact with their regional commander recently, I would strongly encourage some contact soon. Best of luck!

    April 15 Deadline

When the first big WAVE of offers of admission went out from West Point, the cadet applicants were given until April 15th to accept/decline the offer.

    A New Cadet with questions...

So much of what happens on R-Day is mental. Be prepared physically for the rigors of that first day because physical exhaustion can and will affect you mentally. It also goes without saying, BE ABLE TO PASS THE APFT! Lots of running over the next few months will help so much. Also if you are...

    speeding ticket

To be safe, a cadet candidate should report ANY CHANGE to his original application. This is not just limited to speeding tickets, but should also include any change in health, injury, etc. The CC's regional commander would be the appropriate contact person.

    Why not try this???

No shortcuts on graduating from USMA. It's a minimum 47-month journey. Like the previous poster stated, it's so much more than just academics.
