We stayed at a hotel within walking distance for my DS class of 2018 and it was a lovely walk over in the early morning...no traffic to deal with, no parking issues , and no bus to deal with. We will do the same for our DD class of 2022.

A helpful tip.... when I did not know the date of 2/C weekend I booked hotel rooms for several weekends ...end of Sep/ beg of Oct and when the date came out I cancelled all the rooms not on that date!

I will add that the process changes ....the process is slightly different for my DD 2022 hopeful ( USNA) than it was for my 2018 (USNA) DS 4 years ago. I agree with above posters that money spent on a good SAT/ACT tutor is a better investment!

Have your DS send a copy of the email about the LOA to his nominating sources. USNA typically informs the congressional offices of the LOA, but better to be safe than sorry. MY DD also took a copy with her to the interview just to be sure. Congrats!

Notifications for LOA at USNA are by email . The email tells the candidate to login to the CIS portal where they will find the "required actions" to be taken. Once logged in to the portal the status says" Conditional Letter of Appointment LOA"

An LOA can come before DodMerb. If it does then one of the "required actions" will be medical qualification.

On your CIS portal there is a place that says "required actions" Typically at this point most LOA recipients need to obtain a nomination .Once the "Required Actions" have been fulfilled you will receive your appointment. Congrats!
