    Special Branching Program

last year everyone at LTC (now ciet) kept their phones the entire time, except during the field portion. I'm assuming this has stayed the same.

Is there any way to do ROTC after completing a bachelor's degree?

Definite yes for AROTC. I'm currently doing it while pursuing a 2 year program. I had to go to summer camp before starting in the fall. Probably no to nrotc and afrotc. I contacted both in my area and recruiting said they don't take grad students.

    R&D in the Army

Thanks for the insights. Will pursuing a graduate degree in a particular technical field after commissioning help with enhancing chances to get into that area? I.e. Will a Masters or PhD in Engineering help get positions in the army research labs? Rather than stay a generalist officer.

    NG/AR and finding civilian job

Thanks for the advice, I will check out the resources mentioned. Also, I was wondering if cadets (MS3 and MS4) are employed by the US Gov.? Some job applications asks you to answer whether you are a government employee.

    R&D in the Army

So what is the real point of recruiting certain majors such as STEM if they are not really utilizing their specialized skills?

    R&D in the Army

Are there opportunities for Army officers to get involved in R&D or at least manage a R&D facility? I am interested in USARIEM and the Natick Soldier Systems centers. Does the Army try to make use of junior officers' (LT-CPT) degrees? For example, if someone has a degree in exercise...

    NG/AR and finding civilian job

Hey all, I am wondering if any of you have experience or advice finding a civilian job when planning on commissioning in the AR or NG. Specifically, 1) Should I look for jobs during BOLC? Is there time to look for jobs during BOLC? 2) Should I try to land a job before BOLC? And risk getting...

    arotc ltc packing list

I was wondering if it is ok to bring more than what is on the packing list? For example, can I bring more than 1 pack of baby wipes (packing list says 1 pack), a book (packing list makes no mention of this), etc.?

    AROTC LTC packing list

Hey, just have a few questions regarding what I can bring in terms of personal hygiene (male). http://www.nmmi.edu/rotc/documents/CadetPackingList_CCCir145-04_100204_.pdf For example, I tend to get cavities easily, so I have a habit of flossing and using mouthwash everyday. I don't want to come...

    academic schedule question

-are cadets allowed to modify their approved course schedule? (course time/availability conflict?) -are cadet allowed to withdraw from a class (W) that is not a required course for graduation as long as they are still on track to graduate and stay full time? Or withdraw from a class and...

    Reserve officer promotion

Do early career reserve officers get promoted on the same timescale (time in grade) as active duty officers (up to O-3)? Or does it usually take longer? O-2 -> 18 months O-3 -> 2 years http://usmilitary.about.com/od/promotions/l/blofficerprom.htm

    Think you are prepared?

I increased my training the last 5 months, but have had to reduce intensity for a few weeks due to some ankle pain. Before I eased up, I was running ~3 miles almost 5 days a week day, at ~13:15-13:30 2 mile pace. I have 1 more year until I hope to contract (LTC+2 year), so hopefully my time will...

    Think you are prepared?

Any idea of what the average 2 mile run time in your respective battalions? Do most cadets after MSII max out the run? I'm a bit worried about my time, as it seems like most ROTC cadets have done track or are in track. I know I can pass it, but I want to be somewhere near the top.

    ROTC worth it?

Thanks for the responses. Is there an official website link to where I can read more about this guaranteed branching ADSO for stem majors? Also, this was also mentioned: Does this ^ also require additional years of obligation?

    ROTC worth it?

Mech. Engineering. ~3.1 gpa My top branches (in order) I would like to branch Engineering, Signals, Intel. The PSLF essentially allows you to have federal loans forgiven after 10 years of timely payments, if you are working full time for gov., ngo, etc. there is a list.

    ROTC worth it?

In this situation would pursuing a commission through rotc be worth it? I'm looking to do the Army 2 year program. At this point, I am planning for worse case scenario: No Army scholarship. Since ROTC classes don't count in full time calculations at my school, I would have to take 6 extra...

    Gov. job for junior officers

Hey, I was wondering if recently commissioned junior officers (reserve, no foreign deployments yet) in the military have a leg up in employment for government agencies (during the application submittal phase of the hiring process (pre-interview)). I'm looking at the FDA, CDC, NIH, etc. More of...

    LTC questions

Thanks for the responses. I'm just trying to get a gauge on the physical toughness of LTC. I'm going next year, and at the moment, I can get around 240-250 apft consistently. I think I will be at around at least 270 by 2014 (hopefully better, I was under 200 in February). How will I hold up?

    ROTC Reserve Assignment

Thanks, I am mostly interested in the Corps of Engineers, Military Intelligence, and Signal Corps. Are there a decent number of slots for those? Also, how do I make myself more competitive for a reserve slot since it is not based on the OML. Is it based on GPA, internship experience(s)...
