110. DS of Tiger, 3 yr AROTC, Lehigh University, Mechanical Engineering

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. As a non-military family this whole process was quite an experience. I am very proud of my DS for considering to serve and I am sure that he will be succesful in the future!

Thank you for the reply USMCGrunt. It looks like he will be attending Lehigh University as it is the most competitive engineering school he was accepted at. Unfortunately Lehigh does not have AF or N Rotc (only Army) so I don't think he will be part of that. He is considering reapplying to...

Just checked my DS portal and there is a notification that he was not selected for a scholarship. After all those forms, applications, physicals, fitness tests for USNA, USAFA and NROTC, he gets nothing. At least now we know and we can move on with selecting a college.

Just spoke at the NROTC office of one of the schools my DS was accepted and asked them for advice. I was told that students sometimes do not find out until end of April, even May. Looks like we may have to put a deposit at a couple of different schools and make a decision later.

We are in the same boat. One the top schools my DS is considering only has Army ROTC. He has decided that he is only interested in NROTC or AFROTC so should he choose that school he would not do ROTC.

My DS got the TWE last Saturday but I still find myself coming back to this thread and reading all your news. It's so hard to let this go and I am sure that if I tried to explain it to my friends they would not understand. Good luck to everyone "still in the game".

DS also updated schools yesterday. Portal changed but status has not. Still waiting and it's getting late in the process. A couple of schools that my son is waitlisted indicated that admissions would review his application again should he get the scholarship....would be nice to hear soon!

Got a TWE from the USNA yesterday, and one from the USAFA today. We really could use some good news soon. Hoping for the NROTC scholarship NOW!

Received an email to check portal and there it was; second rejection this weekend (USNA TWE received yesterday). Very dissapointed, still waiting to hear about NROTC. DS had a congressional nomination for both academies and pretty good stats: 1450 SAT (680 CR, 770 Math), 4.78 weighted GPA, 2...

It has been quiet for a while. Has anybody heard anything? I have been trying to call our local recruiter for the last couple of days but it always goes straight to voicemail. Are they still notifying applicants?

Still waiting in PA. No mail and based on other comments, good news will only come by phone call. So now, I'm just waiting for the phone to ring.
