    Standardized Test Scores

All the sections are entered into your candidate profile and Whole Candidate Score, and are thus considered in your admission to USMA.

    Leave After Beast

Hi all, I'd like to start off by saying thank you to everyone here on Service Academy Forums for the help they've offered me up to this point - I feel much more prepared for Beast and West Point at-large as a result of the online community here. I hope that I am able to return the favor and help...

    CBT and Keeping a Journal

A Moleskine is also a great investment. Maybe not the best for withstanding the elements but thought I'd just throw that in the discussion here.

    Admissions Phones

From the USMA Admissions Site: ANNOUNCEMENT: The West Point telephone system has been experiencing technical difficulties intermittently since March 17th.The issue has been resolved, but voicemail messages left this week may not get through to recipients. We recommend callers follow up with an...

    SAT Subject tests

I personally submitted them on my "extra information" resume, which MAJ Ghazal of the Northeast Region recommended that I send in. The scores were never posted on my portal and I believe their weight was minimal, although I honestly have no clue. However, if you are comfortable with the SAT/ACT...

    Army Athletics

It's more like saying "Duke Durham," unfortunately. The combination of the two pronouns makes no sense to me and I'm disappointed with the change. It seems that Army Athletics - rather, Army West Point Athletics, I apologize - sort of sold itself out to Nike on the name change in the first...

I received my envelopes shortly after the acceptance kit opened up on my portal.

    Class of 2019 Appointment Thread

I received mine on a Friday, but I do live 45 minutes from USMA in New Jersey.

    Ranking

The standard, I'm sure, isn't exclusive to just this measurement. The vague understanding I had of the system was based off the 75% benchmark that Major Ghazal gave at SLE. It didn't seem too firm either, he was just giving an example of a "competitive school." Every situation is unique. I...

    Ranking

When I went to a briefing at SLE for Northeast Region Admissions, the NE Regional Commander, Major Ghazal, spoke on the consideration process for "bonus points" for those attending a challenging high school. He used 75% to 4-year colleges as a benchmark for the beginning of consideration for...

I'm from NJ-11. Yes, I'm pretty sure I'll be there but I'm not positive. I will definitely be at the West Point Society dinner this Saturday - what about you?

    Ranking

In my case coming from a non-ranking school, for what it's worth, USMA used my national percentile on standardized scores as my class rank. I scored a 34 on the ACT - the 99th percentile - and thus my rank was 1/100.

    Summer Leadership Experience Packing List

I brought a duffel that could roll on wheels and it was perfect. I also carried a backpack. A duffel and/or backpack seemed to work better for people than a suitcase.

    Summer Leadership Experience Packing List

The first piece of advice that comes to mind that I would give is to pack lightly. You will be overwhelmed and also pestered by cadets if you show up the first day with a load of gear so large that you look like you're preparing to ascend Mt. Everest. Another underrated item on the packing list...

You should soon receive an email from Mrs. Debra Dalton, the Parent Communications Liasion, about joining the Facebook group. If you want I could forward it to you, ochoac2. Note that you must accept your appointment before joining the group. Congrats!

    Semester Abroad

I know that cadets with a language major can go on a semester abroad - is it also possible for cadets who are double majored in a language and something else, perhaps a sosh, to go on one as well? Thanks in advance everyone, these forums are very helpful.

    Ranking

Just to offer some words of solace to you frenzmando, I'm a CC for the USMA c/o 2019 and am attending a top 5 high school for SAT/ACT scores in the country (I hate sounding like I'm bragging, but I only share this to demonstrate my background). My school doesn't class rank in order to prevent...

    Semester Abroad

I will definitely consider Portuguese. One of the main reasons I studied Latin was to get a solid foundation on which I could study Romance languages, so I hope that reasoning comes to use at USMA. Thanks!

    Semester Abroad

I only have experience studying Classical Latin (other than the basics of Spanish in middle and elementary schools). Would that put me out of eligibility to study French, even if I wanted to major in it? I knew spots for Spanish and French are difficult to obtain, but I didn't realize they were...
