    Post ROTC Careers

Hello everyone! I am a currently an ROTC cadet and am figuring out what branch is suitable for me. As a Government and International Politics major I thought it is best to purse a branch in the Army closely related to the careers I can have (with my major) upon graduating from college only...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

IMO I wasn't trying to play games I just wanted advice about certain things that were bothering me at the moment and I assumed that there wouldn't be any problem with posting literally any issue I may have (that is why my posts are random) However, I understand the message you are conveying and...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

Parents are not Nigerian and I never WENT to GMU (it wouldn't make sense to say I am going back to a school I never attended) it was them that brought up the idea of "low deployment rates" NOT me. Just because I have questions about the military doesn't mean I do not want this life

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

You make a point, with that I apologize for coming off a bit to "harsh" or defensive in my remarks. I get what you were trying to tell me its just that there are a bunch of former SMC grads that pride themselves soo much that they think anyone who doesn't go to a SMC is not worthy of a...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

I respond to all the questions however the responses I get look as if I am made to look like a fool (not really complaining here just stating a fact)

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

such biased perceptions are what guide HS graduates in the wrong direction about SMC, ROTC or even SA

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

Looks as if you think AROTC is at a regular school is inferior based on your arguments and saying I am "tapping out" as if I am some kind of quitter. I will admit I put myself in a situation that I should've seen coming a long time ago but was blind to...Appreciate your input though

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

You have missed my point because I never said anything about NEEDING financial aid to attend GMU. The whole "financial" aid thing was only in regards to housing but that is not the major issue here. I didn't come here for comfort but a non-biased logical perspective of what the differences...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

Well that was the issue from the start  my purpose of going to tech was to be away from NoVA and my parents and to be in the corps because of the whole idea that if I want a commission as an officer I could get it on the spot. I think I was short-handed in the information I...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

I appreciate your advice, but in regards to transferring after a year; that maybe a risky move according to my parents since I feel it could hold me back from graduating on the prospective year (I came to Va.Tech with college credits) in regards to your comment about whether I know what ROTC...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

At the end of the day the end goal is the same--to earn a commission. As far as the deadline I will give myself, I will have to wait until Nov-early Dec. before I make my final decision due to the long process that comes with leaving the corps and the whole registration for classes and...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

I live 5-10 mins away from GMU therefore housing won't be a problem. In terms of relationships with peers, I don't think I will have a problem with that--to be honest it was hard for me to develop friends in the corps simply because I feared I would be in trouble for "fraternization" even if I...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

Thanks for the insight there, I came to Va.Tech because of the whole "guarantee" factor. From what it looked like to me you could get an active duty commission so as long as you are qualified by virtue of attending an SMC whereas for ROTC at a civilian college you had to work much harder.

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

I am currently at Va.Tech and I have been here for a semester and the reason I decided to attend an SMC is because I know that one can get an active duty commission on the spot upon graduation however I didn’t really consider the academic aspect of my purpose of going to this school since it is...

    Differences between SMC and AROTC

Throughout my time here at an SMC I have been thinking about why I really wanted to come to this school. When it all comes down to a boil it is because I wanted an active duty commission. I have not really thought hard enough if the academics here suit me. I am thinking about switching schools...

    Plebe Year

I am currently in the corps of cadets at Va.Tech and apparently everything we do are supposed to be similar to that of service academies. I was a USMA candidate but I wasn't triple qualified (which is why I didn't get in) here are some of the questions I have.. - Do plebes have hair privilege...

Dating permitted in the Corps of Cadets (VTCC)??

I am currently transfer cadet and I am not so sure if dating is allowed or not. I am also in "red phase", could that be the reason why (OR because of our shaved heads)? also I remember one of the cadre members tell us during New Cadet Week that we aren't allowed to look at girls, talk to girls...

    Early Turning???

I checked it out and all I got from regulation pdf was what an early turn is. My deputy commandant told me he would have to early turn me but at the same time is this something that I need approval for by my C/FSG and my chain of command?

    Early Turning???

I was told that I have the option to "early turn" due to the fact that I am a transfer student cadet that is an academic junior. What does this exactly mean and how does this process work? I also have a bud who is prior service and he has the option to do so too. :sorry posted the same exact...

    Early Turning???
