    NAPS and Wisdom Teeth

Does anybody know if it is required or recommended or even relevant to have wisdom teeth removed before reporting? I say this as I write a check to a dental surgeon we were referred to by our son's dentist who referred us because his son is a Plebe at USNA and he was required to have his...

    Naps Pay

I've read on the forums that it is E-1 for direct entries from HS. Enlisted members bring their current pay grade to NAPS and keep it. And even if a direct entry would qualify to enter the Navy as an E-3 (Eagle Scout, JROTC, etc.) they will only be an E-1 for NAPs purposes.

    NAPS

    Basic Questions About NAPS

pilot2b, Very informative. Thanks. We are figuring it all out, and it is nice to have your perspective as a current NAPSTER. We will reach out if we have questions. I'm sure there will be more. Best of luck to you as you finish up the year, graduate in May and then report for USNA class...

    Basic Questions About NAPS

Our son was notified today he has been accepted into NAPS 2014. The envelope came while is was and still is at HS Lacrosse practice, so we took it to the field for him to open. We are all excited, but have several questions. We have a son who is a senior at USMMA, but expect this place to be...

Have NAPS offers already gone out??

Our son received an offer to NAPS today. We usually watch the forums as we have a son who is a Senior in another academy. Were completely unfamiliar with NAPS, however, so let the questions begin.

    2014B Sea Year Assignments

I'm actually more on board with you than you think. I've lived OPSEC in the extreme. Let's take troop movements for instance. If a unit is gearing up to go to the sand, it's best we keep that on the very low down. Families do kind of know where their loved ones are going, but they have been...

    2014B Sea Year Assignments

No Worries probably has other things he should be worried about. I've lived an OPSEC environment before, and I thought his comment was terse. It came across to me as raining on the parade of a proud parent. I've seen my mid's ship location on it's company website. I've seen it on the marine...

USMMA Worst Professors in the U.S.????????

http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/SelectTeacher.jsp?sid=1052 I took a few minutes to look at the rate my prof site (link above). I think there is a trend. The higher the easiness factor, the higher the prof rating. So I can't stand the title of the article being "Worst" professors. I think...

USMMA Worst Professors in the U.S.????????

Our mid was telling us about this. I don't think it passes objective scrutiny, since it is based on nothing objective at all. It is based solely on student input on the RATEMYPROFESSOR website. I think this website is like a popularity contest, and I think the profs with the highest...

    Returning from Sea Year-Missing items

JUST TO FOLLOW UP - My mid returned yesterday. His stuff was in the locker untouched in the 4 months he was gone. He is astonished at how much stuff he put in there, so I guess his memory is a tad off. End of story for our family. And I hope all you others had happy endings as well. I...

    Returning from Sea Year-Missing items

I never understood why every mid has their own printer anyway. I bet most of them would like a nice color laser duplexer on each floor they can network to. It would save a ton of money and desk space. My mid returns this weekend from his first sea trip, and he does not seem even remotely...

    Returning from Sea Year-Missing items

I think that's the point of the post, the mids are suspected, which I have a difficult time believing it is a huge issue. I suspect at a good school with good kids like this - one occurrence feels like 10 and gets amplified, precisely because we don't expect this behavior. But at a public...

    Returning from Sea Year-Missing items

kpmom2013 - I'm having difficulty with your logic. You post, "The most popular item lately seems to be printers, but anything valuable is up for grabs." So this reads to me you suspect this agregious activity is commonplace. Then you post, "the current mids should handle it..." I do believe...

    Plebe Attrition

Very happy he is getting challenged. Very happy with the program. Would not change a thing. My whole point was simply math and how you can't calculate attrition the same way at KP. Our plebe has risen to new heights given the challenge and we could not be more proud of him that he has done...

    Straightforward answer needed- Attrition

I actually read your post and put my thoughts on the thread called Plebe Attrition. It seems we have two parallel attrition posts going on simultaneously.

    Plebe Attrition

We've been shocked that many of the kids we met at Parents Weekend for 2013 and whom we kept contact with their parents are setbacks. Further still our plebe must have had 10 or so roomates by now. A couple of them have been setback. BUT WHAT IS ATTRITION? I don't think at KP you can look at...

    2014 Appointment Thread

I think I might be the friend. I concur. My son too had a choice of USCGA or USMMA. Agonizing decision. I repeat agonizing decision. My son was fairly sure about USMMA, whereas I, wanting to advise him, was more conviced about USCGA. My son was more right than I was. He's in the right...
