    AROTC Summer Training

From my understanding, basic camp is only required if you had no prior military service experience or you weren't in ROTC your freshman/sophomore semesters. You can elect to attend it and might be encouraged by cadre, but I don't think it is a requirement.

    AROTC scholarship vs GI Bill

While it is true my other scholarship would reduce it's amount if I earn other scholarship money, I talked to both the scholarship coordinator and my financial aid office and they told me the ROTC scholarship would not be reduce my primary scholarship like other scholarships would. This was the...

    DoDMERB Update

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone on the forum for all the advice and help I've received regarding my dodmerb issues these past years. It's been a long three years from being DQ out of AFROTC and switching to AROTC and waiting over a year with AROTC. This past week I was informed by...

Good afternoon all, I am currently about to sign my contract for AROTC going into my 2nd semester of my ms3 year. Presently, I was informed I will be receiving backpay from last spring for a medical waiver as well. I was informed that if I take the scholarship, I will owe 4 years before my GI...

    GI bill and ROTC

Hello, Following onto this thread, if I do not take a scholarship through ROTC would the 4 year commitment count towards the GI Bill? Thank you for your replies.

    Class attendance during school year

When I was in AFROTC we were allowed 5 absences per semester, we still had to informed cadre though. These 5 also didn't count for excused absences such as school/professional./medical related absences

    ROTC and Fraternities

Make sure you keep your priorities straight, there were several cadets in my unit that couldn't handle both and some decided a fraternity is what they wanted more. Also this doesn't need to be said but there are rules and regulations being in ROTC, don't risk your potential career in the...

College Nursing Student Interested in AROTC/Nursing Program

Good morning, I am a current nursing student in AROTC as well going into my MSIII year. From my unit, I was told even if there are no nursing mission at your specific school, your unit can request a nursing mission from nursing brigade which is what mine has done for 2 other students. Also...

    AFROTC Nurse Enrollment Allocation

@Laina26 Last semester I was told by a 300 that is also a nursing student like me that they had approximately 50 Nursing EA slots for her year. However, she mentioned they did not fill up all 50 slots.

    Eczema DQ

@ROTCparent That's great news!! From last I heard I was classified as mild class 3 eczema or something like that which is still not waiverable under their new guidelines. However I went to a military dermatologist who stated I had no signs of chronic eczema and wrote a letter which I had sent...

    New eczema guidelines?

This was recently published http://www.af.mil/News/ArticleDisplay/tabid/223/Article/1045846/af-evolves-policies-to-access-more-talent-maintain-high-standards.aspx It is stated that these changes are effective immediately. If my waiver was denied a few months ago should I go ahead and contact...

    Eczema DQ

@ROTCparent AFROTC is very strict on eczema, I was DQ this past semester from the program for having an instance at the age of 13. From my understanding, waiver appeals for eczema are slim to none at the moment. I have begun transitioning over to AROTC and started my waiver process for them...

    DoDMerb Status

I will contact them this monday, however the thing that confused me was that if it was waived back in 2014, should it not have shown up back then? The status only recently changed from pending to granted when I asked Army cadre to request a waiver for me.

    DoDMerb Status

@5Day I never sent up a waiver request for AROTC in 2014, I was with AFROTC in 2014 till now and they were the only ones I sent a waiver request to. It had remained at pending/review on the website for Army since 2014 and recently changed to approved (last month)

    DoDMerb Status

Good morning all, After my medical waiver for eczema for AFROTC was denied, I applied to AROTC. Initially I received a DQ code with a remedial on the website, followed by the bottom part saying: US Army ROTC , cycle year:2014, medical waiver granted. However there is another agency underneath...

    Next Steps

That brings up two questions from me @Pima , one being last year we had our region commander coming as a guest speaker stating they were undermanned in the nursing field, SFT was also 100% for nurses last year as well from what I was told by my det and the poc that went through it. In addition...

    Next Steps

@EOD/SEALmom Thank you for your experience. I understand all of those are legitimate reasons and concerns, however I am almost positive that there are people within the military with eczema considering there are about 35million people with it. I have heard of those with eczema in the military...

    Next Steps

@AROTC Parent Correction, you are right he is a medical service officer who believes he could write a recommendation letter for me regarding the waiver. My take on this situation is that if I request a congressional inquiry it would yield the same result, the only thing with a "reasonable"...

    Next Steps

The consultant said he knows how to help physicians to word a remedial letter in ways that would mean something to the military. He said a civilian doc writing a letter carries little to no weight with the military. In addition, he told me he already had a specific physician in mind to help with...

    Next Steps

My situation is as follows, I was an AS200 in AFROTC but was recently denied my medical waiver for eczema past the age of 12. I have not been on prescription medication in years, with only one...
