    Nominations-Which states are competitive?

I was, but at the very bottom. I'm surprised that I got a senator's nomination and appointment with my school grades...I guess it was b/c of my SAT scores. What was your class rank? Did you play any sports?

    Nominations-Which states are competitive?

I started applying to all three academies, but got a nomination only for west point. I also applied to Texas A&M, UT, Baylor, and University of Houston. If not west point, I was gonna go to Texas A&M. Did you apply to only the academies or did you have some backups as well?

    Nominations-Which states are competitive?

Sounds fun. Have you been accepted to Annapolis as well? Is Air Force Academy or West Point your first choice? It will definitely be fun getting used to the cold, psyche.

    Nominations-Which states are competitive?

It was pretty good, the campus is really nice and the activities we did were pretty fun. It gave me a good insight about what academy life was gonna be like. I'm gonna actually do an overnight visit to West Point in April, when are you planning to go?

Does the iron gym actually help? I was thinking about ordering one, but is the 39.99 worth it?

    So now what?

Alright, I received the links for all the new paperwork, but since I sent the postcard in, it just said appointment accepted on Jan. 29. I guess that once you start filling out the paperwork, more paperwork links start showinn up.

    Nominations-Which states are competitive?

I was rejected from West Point, but was accepted to Navy and Air Force. I was only able to go to Air Force though. It's weird that you can get rejected from the SLS but are a strong candidate when it comes to actually applying.

    Nominations-Which states are competitive?

That's really good. I started out applying to all three academies, but the navy alo was horrible and i didn't get a nomination to AFA. Have you gone to any of the SLSs?

    Nominations-Which states are competitive?

Cool! I'm from Houston, TX and I received my appointment last week. I signed my card about a week after I received it though, but I'm also continuing my A&M application (applying for housing, etc.) just in case anything happens and I can't go to West Point. What other colleges are you...

    Forms?

I was a little confused about that too...I'm guessing they show up after you fill out the first four. When I talked to my admissions counselor, he told me that the "admitted forms" show up in March, but some of them are already online, so the ones that aren't might show up then.

    For Those With Appointments...

How long does it take them to update the candidate portal, b/c i've been checking for the past week and there still aren't any updates or new links. Also, do you know if you have to send them any seventh semester/final transcripts?

For the future cadets! Learn about Cadet Basic Training!

It's horrible that you're criticizing this guy for posting such an amazing in-depth blog about his West Point experience. You should be appreciating the fact that he has taken the time to tell future West Point cadets about what they should expect and how to prepare for the upcoming challenges.

    So now what?

How do you accept the appointment electronically? My online account still only shows the documents I've sent, etc. and that they've received all my information. I received an official acceptance package in the mail as well, and have already mailed the post card, but I'd be more comfortable doing...

    For Those With Appointments...

I received a call at home last Tuesday, the same day Obama was inaugurated, and received my official acceptance letter last Saturday. It's all really exciting, but I'm worried about Beast Barracks. Anyone have any tips on how to stay fit and be prepared?

    Nominations-Which states are competitive?

Wow, Texas is a competitive state? I never knew that--I actually received a nomination from a Texas Senator (Kay Bailey Hutchison) and everyone's been telling me that that's really good. I guess I didn't realize the value of such a nomination.
