Is there really no connection between getting admitted into a college and a ROTC scholarship?

It depends on the school. Some work directly with admissions to grow their programs, some have no relationship with admissions at all and it has no relevance to their decision. Best to contact admissions of the school of your choice if/when you receive a scholarship and let them know the...

    NROTC vs. CGA

It will be tough for NROTC to change his major from a tier 1 to a tier 3, they want the engineers and science majors. There is a huge need for these grads, especially those willing to go nuke. Not saying it doesn't happen, just it's hard to get. College engineering is tough. If he is not...

    ROTC and Division 1 Athletics

My son is in NROTC as a freshman and does D-1 athletics. He has been testing out on PT by scoring "excellent" so he does not have to do PT in the early mornings so this has helped a great deal. However he still must get tested and keep his PT scores up whenever they re-test. He does have to do...

Can navy recruiters manipulate NROTC process

Dont know the answer to your above ques however NROTC scholarships are just as competitive as service academy appts, sometimes even more so as you are chosen on a national level, not according to geography.

What does CPR even mean at this point?

"Like other kids who don't end up at Navy, they end up where they're supposed to be and usually don't look back" Awesome advice here!!! This is quite true for so many. Your kids will follow your lead. Embrace what is , not what could have been.

    Wait listed

Im happy to hear you know of someone who was pulled off the waitlist. I think i read 100-120 ish are selected each year? Feel free to correct me here. My son was also very proud to make it as far as the waitlist last year! And I was proud of him for his positive attitude in that situation.

    Wait listed

I think an USNA ( and any SA) rejection is just harder to swallow...the process is long. It requires so much more effort than applying to regular college. So when you get that TWE or waitlist, you do a double -take at your screen and your child's perfect record pops into your head and you...

    Wait listed

Sorry no, hate to be Debbie Downer. I dont recall any appts on this forum after the waitlist came out. Perhaps things will work differently this year with portal notifications. Last year we had snail mail.

    Wait listed

well last year was snail mail for the most part so we were the last class of the true mailbox stalkers. Others can chime in here but I remember a large wave of TWE's then a bit of waiting on the island. Most still waiting got the waitlist in the mail or got a later TWE. dont recall any more...

Better to be Waitlisted now or CPR?

Last year they offered 1300 appts for about 1165 spots. So they are pretty sure of their yield. They ended up with 1190 and were actually over their expected class. So basically no one got off the waitlist.

    THE END OF THE LINE...

Our family was right there with you at this time last year. My husband is an USNA grad, and had a lot of the same feelings as you did when our son was not accepted. He definitely felt our son was much more qualified than he ever was. Take some time, absorb it, then get excited about NROTC and...

    It's March 28, 2016 and still CPR...

Be proud of the fine sons and daughters you have raised! It's an accomplishment in itself to make it this far and it puts them in a great position to reapply next year should an appointment not come. My son was actually so excited to just to make the waitlist last year! Top 1400 out of over...

    USNA waiting for yield results

You either get one of the few remaining appointments or you get on the waitlist. In recent years it seems the waitlist is not used as USNA's yield is closing in at close to 90 percent.

Class of 2020 USNA Appointment Thread

Last year's waitlist letters went out and were dated April 1st to give you an idea of timing for class of 2019. Some estimate there are about 100 kids chosen for the waitlist. The letters stated "1300 appointment have gone out and they expected 1165 to accept." I don't think anyone on this forum...

End of the Line for USNA

"B" plans can be the best plans!! My son is proof! He is participating in NROTC on scholarship at a great school and is also doing in D1 athletics. Doing well and loves his school. He Decided against reapplying to USNA Class of 2020 as he found a home where he was at! USNA is not the only way...

Too late for NROTC scholarship app?

Definitely apply, my son was in the same position last Jan and applied to NROTC late. His scholarship was awarded in February.

Competitiveness/Chances/Waiting like the rest of you.

My only thought is to secure other plans in place. While it would be ideal to get to NAPS /USNA or a scholarship, these are reaches for everyone . Im assuming she has applied to a school she can afford in the event nothing comes through in terms of a scholarship or appointment? She can always do...

    Odd Question

I would agree , not appropriate. Your decision will be given when they are ready to make it. Otherwise everyone would be asking for early decision.
