Earliest one might get accepted into a prep school? - Posting in the correct forum this time!

No idea what the "earliest date" would be, but mine decided on Navy in November after being offered the opportunity. This offer was sports related. Of course, the offer was contingent on meeting the requirements. The official signed letter offering a year at Naps came after completing the...

    How many people reapply?

Also some re-applicants have no college (they enlisted instead). I know of at least one who went that route and is now a very happy member of the class of 2020.

Class of 2020 USNA Appointment Thread

212 Napsters graduated and were eligible for appointments. I know of one who is not accepting because they were also accepted at USAFA and chose Air Force but I think the rest have accepted. The graduation rate, 83%, was consistent for the rate over the last 10 years.

Last year the Napster's received official notice of their appointment to USNA in the first week of May. This year's Napsters are still waiting for official notice.

Naval Academy Prep School (NAPS) Class of 2017 Parent Facebook Page

I agree. But, you can join the Mids Mom's and Dad's page on Facebook. That is usually focused on the Academy, so you will learn a lot about the future. And, if you had any questions about Foundation, you would probably find someone on that page who had a prior foundation kid.

Facebook pages for NAPS parents and midshipman candidates

Fish - When I was in your position last year, I looked for information on NAPS but I couldn't find much of anything. So I created an information page. (I reviewed information from the last three years.) If you'd like a copy I'm happy to send it to you. Just send me a message and I'll send the...

    Anybody else Accepted to NAPS?

I also recommend joining the NAPS Facebook pages. Those pages are focused on that particular class at NAPS and they share the experience in fun and informative ways. It goes beyond the scope of these pages which are more of a question and answer forum. In addition, in class of 2016, they created...

    Nuke to Navy

This year's Naps class includes several priors that came out of Nuke school. They all appear to be doing quite well. If you'd like I would be happy to reach out to their parents and see if one of them would be willing to share their experiences. Napster's are allowed to have a car and several...

    Info for NAPSters

I haven't seen anything official yet for 2016-2017, but the last three years, I-day at NAPS has been on the third Tuesday of July. In 2015, I-day was 7/21/15. Priors report one week earlier. The new MCs must report by 9:00 a.m. so many fly in the night before. If they do, they can stay in the...

    Nominations for Athletes

That makes sense- thanks for the explanation. I just knew they had to get one twice!

    Nominations for Athletes

They made our Napsters apply for the nominations to attend NAPS and then helped them secure one. They have already applied and received their noms for next year at USNA. Not sure why they made them to it last year if it wasn't needed?

    Nominations for Athletes

NAPS - Naval Academy Prep School does require a nom. And then, they have to get another one (or the same one again) for the entrance into USNA.

    Social Media

My grandson's detailer found silly photos (crazy faces, silly hats etc) from vacations and family outings on Facebook and printed them out to show them to the entire company. My DGS thought it was funny and took it well, but I imagine some would prefer not to be at the center of any attention.

    Info for NAPSters

Information for NAPS parents - We've got a NAPSter Class of 2016 - USNA Hopeful 2020. When he first got the appointment I found tons of information available about USNA, but I found almost nothing for NAPS, so as I learned things, I created an information sheet for new NAPS parents. If...

    Info for NAPSters

I think that all Napsters, not just priors, make a bit more than a Plebe - I think its because the costs deducted from their pay is less than what gets deducted at USNA for the first year.

    Naval Academy Preparatory School

Agree with MemberLG and wanted to add one more statistic. USNA's goal is to produce officers for the Navy and the bottom line is that 10 years after graduation from USNA the percentage of each class is almost the same. 49% of direct entries and 47% of NAPS entries are still in the Navy 10 years...

Which Sports actually have "influence/input" on the selection process ?

Just wanted to add some NAPS info. This year, class of 2016 NAPS- potential class of 2020 USNA, included 90 recruited athletes out of a total of 245 M/Cs. From the parent page, it looks like there were several football, wrestlers, track and lacrosse players, and a couple of baseball, and...
