I just received a Type 1 AFROTC scholarship today, however I have also received an appointment to USAFA and have accepted. Should I leave the scholarship on the table just in case something weird happens, as a back up? Thanks!

I am a senior and have everything lined up for my appointment to USAFA. I have also cheered for over 10 years. The Academy does have a cheer team, and it's very good! So if cheer is your make or break component, you are still able to do so at the Academy.

Got a denial from Mikulski for USMA (no waiver anyways) and got a nomination from Van Hollen yesterday for USAFA (waiver granted and LOA). Haven't heard from Cardin about USMA, but again, no waiver anyways.

I am on SefeLexen for acne (oral medication), and also use epiduo (gel). Both are prescribed. Although I am just a candidate and it may be different for cadets, I was not DQ'd for using either of these medications for acne. Hope this helps!

Have you taken practice tests? The first time I took a practice test, I got a 1200. After taking the real thing 4 times, I got a 1990. Practice practice practice! It pays off, I just received a waiver and LOA from USAFA. It is a very teachable test you just have to be willing to put in the time.

@1mom The 2 year waiver actually doesn't mean there is a reassessment, it just means that if he has to apply again next year, he will still have the waiver. Once the academy grants a waiver, no extra testing is needed. Hope to see him on IDay!

@desiretoserve in my situation, I was mostly in contact with USMA, USNA, and USCGA about the waiver however got denied from all of them. On he other hand, 2 weeks after USAFA requesting a waiver, I was granted a waiver without any correspondence from USAFA at all. It may just be how they run...

@1mom , I had to receive 2 waivers that were denied by all 3 other academies (even with an LOA to USCGA) so I would say a waiver is a very good sign. USAFA was the only one who granted a waiver and shortly after came the LOA. Good luck!
