    Color Blind Waiver Numbers

I’ve been told the Academy can take no more than 2% of the class with waivers for color blindness. Does anyone know the source of that reference? I’ve heard it’s statutory.

Is there a non-scam DoDMERB consultants out there?

you disagree with a seasoned BGO? If your screen name is correct, you don’t even know what you don’t know. A consultant may give you a little more insight into Dodmerb, but that’s about it. There are some folks out there who purport to be able to help with the waiver process, but that’s wrong...

    Bruce Fleming saga cont.

Pay attention. I said very clearly that you haven’t articulated an original thought. That’s not even close to “because I said so.” Interestingly, that retort isn’t original either. Cut and paste will get you in trouble in college.

Is it better to attend NAPS (Naval Academy Prep School) or go to a university, attend NROTC, and be successful in your classes?

Actually, there are a number of folks at NAPS each year who are academically qualified. Have a friend whose kid had a really good academic record. Was denied. A week or so later offered NAPS. He’s doing well at USNA now.

Actually, my critique of you is that you’ve yet to articulate an original thought. I certainly disagree with your perspective, but you remind me of a Chinese national who I had as a political science professor. “You not know how to write, you copy!” He said this every time he assigned a paper...

That picture tells me he checks all the boxes. We will learn one day that there is much more to his behavior.

Nothing to do with Puritanism. Just looks gross.

I’ve investigated tons of cases like his. Touching, suggestive comments. People who throw lines out to see what bites. He’ll start up again. May not send pics this time, but these folks don’t change their stripes.

Am I going to be DQ'd for past "depression"?

When our Class of 20 Mid was diagnosed as color blind, someone suggested learning how to memorize the test. We never considered that option. We didn't think that was the right way to begin a career of honorable service. It seemed to help that his BGO and others were certain he would get a...

    USNA Chances of Admission

You don’t need sunshine pumping. You need a lot better SAT score. Go to work! Study and prepare for that test. I really don’t think you’re competitive right now, but you could get there. You’ve got some work to do. Good luck to you!

Sub school graduation last year. It wasn’t just a few. Only way to describe it — a lot of overweight kids. A lot!

    Physical Fitness

I agree with about 98%. Not 100% because I’ve unfortunately seen a few anomalies. I watched someone who did not pass the final PRT commission. It was a travesty! Also, go to a sub school graduation. You will be shocked at the physical condition of quite a few grads. As one person told me...

    Physical Fitness

I'm far from being a perfect parent, but one thing we got right was raising independent, self-sufficient kids. Our 17 and 20 Mids complained occasionally, particularly during PY, but they were venting. They never expected us to get involved. The only time I tried to help was the first time our...

    Company Selection

Ours were 1/c and plebe. The younger was called Baby "last name" and Mini "first name." He loved it, but he loved naps in the company commander/platoon commander's room even more. And a few other perks.

    Company Selection

Our 17 had the same roommate from day 1 Plebe summer until they graduated. As close as brothers. Our 20 will likely be the same. Very close friends despite a fist fight Plebe year. But that's boys for you. It was over and forgotten minutes later. Typical that if you mess with one, you get both...

    Should I retake the SAT?

Absolutely! We've been down the color waiver road. There are just a few of them. Make that resume the very best it can be. Also, if possible, I hope you can list something really special on that resume. That waiver requires something different. Don't ask me what that is, but each of the three...

    Update — LOA/No Nom

What a great way to start a weekend! I've been checking back to see your status as well. When our 20 got his color deficiency waiver, we had no idea it was coming and it was in January. We didn't have to wait and agonize as you did. Very happy for you.
