Combat Veteran applying to West Point

Dude if you're a Ranger with a deployment and you also have a perfect SAT, you're going to be accepted. Biggest thing is finishing your application and getting your nomination and recommendations in.

How can I get the most out of my time at West Point?

Combat arms is still a very often used term. Everyone understands what he means when he says it, even if it "hasn't been used since 2010."

    Enlisted to USMA

I'm at USMAPS currently, and I wouldn't let a failed class stop you from applying. As far as your question goes - I think you earn your citizenship after AIT, so you'd probably have to wait until you got to your duty station to ask your company commander for a nomination. However, I don't...

    USMA Motivation

Going into my SAT (post-March, so out of 1600) I felt very anxious, like I was going to do poorly. Then I forgot to answer the free response math questions. I went back and reviewed all my multiple choice, not even realizing I had more questions. At this point I was thinking it couldn't really...

    MALO Interview Location

I did mine in a local coffee shop. I wouldn't recommend Starbucks because it's usually busy and noisy. You could arrange it at a lake/park that has tables or benches. Assuming the weather is good. That's my input. Good luck.

    Good Guys Will be Lost.....

Extremely tragic. Prayers go out to the families and friends of all involved.

CHANCE ME! College Re-Applicant, Low GPA, Heavy ECs, Jail time, Built Businesses, list goes on.

In ANY state, being "unconscious" (which you were NOT) and "blacked out" is not an excuse. You would have been found guilty anywhere. Every day drunk drivers are convicted, even though they were blacked out. You came here asking if you were competitive, and received a resounding NO from this...

    CFA sit ups

It's a crunch, not a full APFT sit up. Your arms are crossed over your chest, and your elbows must touch your knees without your hands coming off your chest. That's the gist of it; there's a more in depth answer somewhere

    Paperwork before R-Day

I'm in a similar situation. Mine are digital, not the actual X-rays. I called the dental people at USMA (number in your overview) and asked if the X-rays printed on printer paper was okay, and they said yes. You should probably call and ask for confirmation - just in case I heard them wrong.

For (future) cadet candidates with jobs

I haven't read everyone else's replies, but it is absurd that they are treating you that way. You're a better person than me, because when things became hostile I would've turned my "two week" notice into a "right now" notice. I also recently quit my FULL TIME job to go to USMAPS. I don't...

    Is this a bad choice?

After graduating highschool I enlisted in the reserves and ended up spending about 2 years on active duty JUST training. I did one semester of college in a 5 month off period - and now I must attend the prep school. That puts ~4 years between highschool graduation and arrival at USMA (assuming I...

I don't think you can private message until you post 5 times in the forum. So you just gotta post a couple more times and you should be good. I'll still be here

I'm a plebe who is about to get recognized. Ask Me Anything.

How are the interactions between upperclassmen and prior service in your class? Im also going to be doing a year at Prep, so I'm going to be as old as the seniors when I'm a freshman..

    Enlisted to USMA

I'm a Soldier going to USMAPS this year. My advice is to shoot for distinguished honor graduate (#1) in your AIT. let your AIT instructor or platoon sergeant know you are applying to USMA, get their email, and ask if they would write a letter of recommendation for you. If you aren't one of...

    Bad Skin

Accutane does not work for everyone. Some doctors will not even prescribe it, and instead give you something milder like a topical cream, before prescribing accutane. There can be some pretty severe side effects, so keep that in mind.

    Questionable form on PFT

Deleting my comment won't change reality, and it's one he will inevitably discover on his own. However, I do not believe that my comment was offensive.

    Enlistment

I'm a reservist applying to class of 2020, I can go a lot more in depth if you want to PM me (I don't want to put too much personal info on here). I enlisted while in highschool as a medic in the reserves with the intention of doing ROTC and the simultaneous membership program (SMP). It's a...
