    I-Day Packing

Just so everyone is aware, the cadre have other things to worry about than your underwear collection. Pack what is A) easily carried B) comfortable and practical C) not a forbidden item (underwear does not fall under this category =) ). Good luck!

    Ask Us (current cadets) Anything

It pretty much just charges it. And you guys probably aren't getting the same model we did so it might not even have the disconnecting tablet/screen.

    Ask Us (current cadets) Anything

I brought both. Ended up using the electric razor most of the time. I've found they are good enough at keeping a close shave if you stay on top of it. Still, its probably a good idea to have a regular razor on hand.

Users please read this thread!!!! :)

I will try and be gentle with this because I can see that you are upset. If you cannot exercise enough self restraint to avoid making snide comments about people who have offered you accurate and honest advice from behind a keyboard, you will find it impossible to conduct yourself appropriately...

    Some knowledge to know before?

Unfortunately, I refuse to be dismissed on this matter. I understand the fact millennials have been targeted by the management industry in order to make them more effective employees. My point is that companies across the board have looked at their employees, who are often of varying...

    Some knowledge to know before?

I imagine the generation proceeding yours also had concerns about how your generation would handle the transition into leadership roles. Even though attitudes change between generations, I believe the recipe for success remains largely the same and that those who strive to excel will rise to...

    Some knowledge to know before?

This is going to sound backwards but I implore you to read the whole thing. Never be first. If you complete a task first that does not mean run out into the hallway and report to your cadre. They WILL NOT be impressed at how quickly you completed the task. They will most likely tear you to...

    Bringing ABUs to inprocessing

All that is said above has merit. However, a guy in my class came to I-day in a top gun shirt and a mustache. Needless to say he got a little extra attention, but he is still here (and with a story to tell). Bringing extra stuff is not going to mark you for the rest of your cadet life. Odds...

    Bringing ABUs to inprocessing

Don't bring extra ABUs for the reasons mentioned above. In my BCT flight, boots weren't a big deal as long as they meet the requirements. I personally didn't bring a pair but I have squadmates who came in with danners/rockies/etc and they were fine. Word of warning though, you never know what...

    2020 Appointee Facebook

Anyone posting on the facebook page beware... Anything you say on there will quite possibly make it to the cadre's ears. Not a scare tactic, just something I think a lot of appointees forget in their happiness at being accepted. Have fun, be smart!

    Appointee tour on 11 Apr

I think that Uber was?/is? banned because the person being dropped off can't vouche for the driver, whereas they could for someone they knew dropping them off. So non-commercial drivers (aka friends, family, etc) would be allowed during visitor hours and Uber is banned because it is a...

    Appointee tour on 11 Apr

Just a heads up, I'm not sure Uber is allowed through the gates. I know it was being discussed, but I don't know how it turned out. You may want to look into that.

    Girlfriends

College (and this next part applies to service academies as well) is a time when you meet a lot of new people. My SO and I 'took a break' with the intention of reevaluating when I was less restricted and after she had settled in where she was. Long story short, people change, people grow. And...

    Clothing - other

No one wears the issued pajamas(unless required in basic)...they'll figure figure it out. They're America's Best and Brightest after all.

    Staying motivated

You will not be motivated 100% of the time. Despite this you will need to learn how to perform and push through regardless. How you respond when you have to do something, but have no desire to do it, says a lot about how important that goal really is to you. It is completely acceptable to not...

    pre-recognition?

If your cadet did not go through a SCRB, they will likely be recognized (provided they meet the requirements of the actual weekend). If they did go through a SCRB, then it is possible they have been informed they will not be recognized. It is also possible they were SCRB'd and will be...

Communication with Family during Academic Year?

Verizon for Vandy and AT&T for Sijan. Not that most people switch though.

    Distinguishing aspects of the AFA

Think about what you want to do if you cant't be a pilot...but, historically, you are more likely to get a pilot slot at USAFA than at USNA

    Skipping an AP test

As is mentioned above, AP tests will save you money in the long run in the event you don't attend USAFA or another service academy. Take it if you can. That being said, I didn't take any of my AP tests senior year, but at that point I was already appointed.

    USAFA Summer Seminar Application Benefits

What I got from the whole ordeal: You applied and got it? Great, you probably have something that makes you competitive in your application. You applied and didn't get it? There are so many factors that go into AFASS that don't translate into the real application, don't freak out. You applied...
