    bad eyesight...

They actually have PRK surgery some time after they sign the 2 for 7. It is more permanent than LASIK and more painful but the reward of great eyesight makes it worth it for most.

review of the roller coaster (from clueless to appointed)

Great post and very accurate to what it takes for these kids to get into the Academies. It will be very helpful to now join all the Facebook parent groups. As a non-military family ourselves, it helped us tremendously.

    It's March 28, 2016 and still CPR...

I appreciate your post GoNavy2020 and wholeheartedly agree. Two of my three children are at the Academy and I can tell you that time management is essential. Those that make it in will be inundated with more responsibilities than can be done in 24 hours. It is purposeful and part of the training...

    USTS summer training block

Ouch, I sure hope my daughter has a different experience. I was really hoping she would be as fortunate as her 2017 brother that got to go to Japan on an amazing flagship his plebe year. Oh well, she probably will learn more from her very different experience. ⚓️

    USTS summer training block

I can't believe how fast time at USNA is flying by. I also have a son that is finishing his 2/C year, preparing for Ring Dance, and just got engaged to his girlfriend of 6 years (freshmen in HS) to be married day after graduation next year. We are going to Annapolis to watch Herndon. I can't...

My plebe daughter got Offshore Sailing for one of her training blocks this summer. Is there anyone here that has a son or daughter that did this that can give me any information about it? My father that died a couple years ago would have loved to know she was doing this!

    Rejected End of the Line

My mama heart hurts for all of you receiving the TWE. My plebe daughter's boyfriend received one last year and I saw how hard it was for an exceptional kid and his family. He did not apply for a NROTC scholarship so he just joined them without it this year at RIT. He applied this year and got...

My 115 pound plebe daughter also did 8 pull-ups. I sure didn't see any boys carrying any girls bags. I also know she beat some of the boys in wrestling class. My favourite quote from her this year was, "you may be too tough for plebe wrestling if you leave class with a perfect bun." Those 2019...

THE BLACK BOX - USNA vs NROTC admissions process

Thank you for restating what I have already said MomNewToThis. I find it incredibly "unfair" that our DD's have people, even those that should be in the know, that don't believe that they are just as competitive candidates as the males there. The numbers in the USNA report of the Class of 2019...
