    This has been you're dream. You're always going to wonder "what if" if you don't take this opportunity. you can leave at any time the first 2 years. Your parents are the ones who need to "man up." Seems very selfish on their part. Good luck with your decision.

    So....why did you ask? You don't need to justify going. As I and other said, it is more for us than them. If they're going to make it through all this, they will with or without us as parents. Millions of other military went off to boot camp with no fanfare.

    Congrats! My DS chose the CGA this time last year and feels it was the best decision ever! I know how hard it is, but listening to all of his adventures thus far, and the exciting summer ahead of him makes me wish I had looked at that route when I was in high school.

    Jury duty?

    First time posting, forgive me if this has already been asked. My DS is attending the USCGA and this week received a summons for jury duty in April. He's looking into this tomorrow, but I would assume he will be able to be excused from this, correct? We live about 1200 miles from CT!
