You only need two leadership positions to get full credit as far as the SAL aspect goes. So you don't need many. It's whole person concept used to review applicants so not having leadership positions won't necessarily kill your application. Positions held your senior year do count though.

Honestly enlisting active duty (not necessarily Marines) doesn't sound like a bad idea. You'd be financially stable, get some good experience, and earn the GI bill which could help you as far as college and ROTC goes.

This isn't really a response to your question since there's already plenty of those above. But as a senior who completed the process this year.. START EARLY. Try to have everything done before the first board deadline (they'll be available once the application opens).
