    Ring “Tap” tradition?

The 2020 class took turns running up to their newly revealed crest and tapped it with their new rings. It looked like a big deal to them

    Ring “Tap” tradition?

Ive googled and searched here and cannot find anything. Is this ring tap event a new or old tradition? I found a couple really good pics of my son and was wanting to know the story before sharing. It looks like a pretty big deal to the cadets, at least by the looks on their faces in the...

    Help

I think the safe and obvious advice would have been not to wait until the last day to find out. Better try and call your ALO I would guess.

C3C son lost some wisdom today

He texted me a pic of his four wisdom teeth laying on a square of gauze earlier today and said it took 15 minutes. Nasty! Amazing how big those things are! He gets the rest of this week off and is staying at his sponsor family's place. About an hour later he sent me another pic of a huge...

    USAFA

Have you tried the ACT? If not give it a shot. My son's ALO wanted him to get each section to at least a 30. I think he took it 3 times and ended up with 31,32,32,34 on the sections. If you werent aware they accept the best score from each section. That really panned out for him.

    Falcon Stadium Seating Assignments

The football game is a good time. If you are taking your cadet to the game have them drive into the lot. Parking was free last year if the cadet was driving. Also, check out pregame over at the tunnel when people are dropping dollar bills down on the band. It's a good time. My son said last...

    Parents Weekend

You best be getting a hotel yesterday. We made our reservations this year while we were there last year! They can leave with you Friday but have to be back for the football game. Quick tip, have your cadet DRIVE the car to the game. Parking is or at least was free if they were driving...

    Basic Training Questions

Cannot stress this enough. FOLLOW THE RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS. Trust me, you will survive. The parents on FB drove me insane by trying to do things like this, complaining about things like this being taken, complaining about pushups, etc. In fact their meddling last year resulted in a message...

A Parent's Guide to Year One at USAFA

I'm sure some will find me harsh or crash but I tend to have a bad habit of being matter of fact As a parent, you need to follow the rules! I see so many parents whining on FB about things from letters with photos imbedded at BCT being confiscated to the food at Mitchells or about their...

    TV Commercial

I can confirm the gpa point made above. Our son was a solid unweighted 3.87 (A) in HS and according to his text yesterday "might" hit 3.0 this semester.

    TV Commercial

This the commercial I have been seeing for about 10 months. I first saw it after my wife and son returned from his official visit/tour last year. They both quickly pointed out that the female in the commercial had been the one that handled his tour that day. They said she did a great job...

Please help me with a response

I avoid many of the silly questions and what not because I started a secret Facebook page Back when this began for our kid. On that page, I added many of my friends, all of my family, etc. our kid, my wife, and the rest of her family did the same thing. I update it every so often with photos...

    A-Day

to summarize what I posted in another thread, unless you are close to USAFA then save your money and time and attend Parent's Weekend. We live across the country and had no plans to attend and our son was fine with that. Me, being a softy, surprised my wife with a flight, etc during our...

    I-day Schedule

I'll offer my differing opinion. If you have to choose between Iday and Aday go to Iday and then the swearing in the next morning. As stated previously GET THERE EARLY. Take binoculars! This of course, is assuming that your kid wants you to do, as some prefer to go alone. It's a huge step to...

Duffle Bag or Backpack on I-Day?

as Christcorp states above, don't waste your time with it. Our kid took his blue bookbag that he had used in high school. He took the clothing that the packet stated to take and nothing above and beyond what the packet stated except he substituted under armour compression shorts in lieu of...
