    GI bill for graduate/med school

    Graduates of the USNA or NROTC are not eligible for VA GI Bill benefits. They've already had their education paid for once. :) However, they are eligible for tuition assistance programs, but must remain on active duty or in the reserves to receive them.

    Appointed without Nomination?

    Maybe you got a nomination and didn't know about it - my DS didn't know he got a nomination to the USAFA until it showed up on his portal. He never received a letter from his MOC informing us until after we called and asked about it.

    Like most universities, the academies want a diverse group of students. Race is one factor that they take into consideration for appointment. You are also given an opportunity to discuss any hardships or challenges you have overcome in your essays/personal statements.

    I actually have a close friend whose son is in this situation. He is currently at the USAFA. He has passed the test accepted by the US Navy, but not the USAF one, and will be unable to fly. So I would say, if there is any concern at all, you should likely get it checked out.
