Air Force Cyber Command Officers from the Academy?

Just out of curiousity, how come the whole "cyber-warfare" thing has seemed to fallen to the Air Force? I mean, it seems like this would be something that all the branches would deal with, but the Air Force seems to be the one that is given the bulk of the responsibilities. Maybe I'm wrong and...

    Bad eyes!

Of course, you aren't potential pilot qualified, which will really hurt you in admissions.

Does someone remember the "classes" at West Point

Also you can "sign up" for the ADSO program, and if it turns out that you would have gotten your first choice without it anyway, you do not need to serve the additional three years. So basically, it's kind of like an insurance policy for those who are on the edge of not getting their choice. To...

    Finish Application?

Not to mention the fact that if you're HIGHLY competitive they may find you a nomination anyway (VP, Superintendent, etc.) My two cents is that it won't take anything but your time, which you'll probably have alot of over the holidays, so why not finish it?

    Second Choice

Out of curiosity, how often do candidates receive the second-choice nomination that they put down on their applications?

    Waitlist

I don't think they make a waitlist until after the mass-mailing in March. That doesn't mean that they don't have a ranked "list" of all applicants, but they don't have a "waitlist" until after they've made all the offers of admission to people they want.

    LOA Received!

It is important to remember, that even with an LOA, an appointment is not a complete certainty, only very, very, very likely. If it's a nomination-contingent LOA, then it's probably a certainty for practical purposes, but if you're waiting for medical or physical qualification, there is still...

    LOA redux

And keep in mind...thus far, we've only heard of 1 person getting them. They seem to be rare, even more so than for the other 3 academies that send out LOAs

    Candidate Activities Record

For the essays...correct. As far as the activities go...I'm not sure.

    LOA redux

I fail to see how it's immoral to offer candidates LOAs....maybe it's just me. Academies aren't like your state universities...they don't offer admission just for filling out the forms...

Why has my application not yet been reviewed by the board?

I had a similar interview, believe the title was "Field Diversity Officer" or something like that. I believe that it does go into your application file, as she mentioned something about doing a write-up on me. So, it is at least somewhat important.

Difficulty of obtaining a Nomination in Maryland?

I would think the difficulty is dependent upon the quality of the schools in your district, considering that all districts have the same population. Also consider the political leanings of the district. I would assume that San Fransisco is not very competitive, while a district in say, rural...

    Purpose of photo?

That was a joke, yes. Although I do believe I remember a case very similar to that happening with the naval academy recently (past couple years). The applicant had someone take the color vision test for him, or he cheated on it himself. It was discovered, and he was nearly charged under UCMJ...

Why has my application not yet been reviewed by the board?

I have heard before that BGOs are able to find out when a candidate is slated to go before the board. I've never asked mine for confirmation on that, I'd rather not know anyway.

    Purpose of photo?

Yes, I remember that surprised me quite a bit when I took my exams...no ID required?! I wonder how many applicants have paid someone else to take their exams (eyesight and hearing, in particular), only to get turnbacked during the exam at Basic Training?

Why has my application not yet been reviewed by the board?

Pima...I'm pretty sure that for the purposes of going before the board, for USNA at least, a nom is not considered part of the "100%". Your file will still go before the board, they will just be considering you for an LOA, or scholastic qualification, or rejection. Could be wrong though. Either...

Why has my application not yet been reviewed by the board?

ENSMom...I think you're referring to 13000 complete Preliminary Applications. Considering that only 13000 applicants (or so) opened Preliminary Apps all of last year, I have a hard time believing that in mid-September 13000 applicants are already 100% complete and ready to see the board. Just IMHO.
