    ARMY ROTC LOGIN ISSUES

Same issue. For two weeks. Contacted Regional Admissions Counseler. No reply yet.

    Portal issues

Same issues for DS. Reset password according to instructions multiple times. Captcha closing off. Reopened by admissions and then problems again. Admissions needs to connect with IT and get the user ID and password management access sorted. Hopefully soon.

    Contact Sport Senior Year?

This is a tough grammatical sentence but put on the best Gruff Coach Accent with a southern twinge: "If you decide to play, it is 100% every game and practice. Whatever you do, do not play 'not to get hurt' as that is the surest guarantee of getting hurt."

    ROTC v West Point

BlackKnight333 -- Congratulations on your work ethic for getting accepted to a Top 20 school and likely appointment to USMA. The above input is absolutely solid. I chime in here only because my DS is in exactly the same position; however, he has the benefit of having an older brother as a USMA...

    Academy outreach message

Speaking as a parent of a grad, if you can accept these! Purely selfish as a parent though. It permits the Cadets an extra day of precious leave. Am sure you will get something out of it too. But, as a parent speaking selfishly for an extra day with Mid/Cadet -- accept them.

    Complete Pending Review?

Reaching out to this great source of crowdsourced info as we work on all options and a self-imposed Nov 1 deadline. DS has had all information completed for six weeks and in fact has DoDMERB cleared also. USNA Application status still says "Incomplete." This is different from the My Progress...

    Missing F35

Captain: Sir, It seems an LT lost his weapon. Col: Why are you bothering me with this. Surely you can handle this. Make sure it is a teaching moment and the LT gets some extra attention. Captain: Sir, it's not a rifle. It's an F35. Col: [looking at Captain in disbelief] Captain: [speechless...

Any idea what happens if there is a lapse in appropriations??

The Naval Academy Portal may not work if the government shut downs . . . Oh wait . . . . Too fresh?

    Incomplete status

Good recommendations above. Would reach out directly to admissions to check the actual status given the portal's unresolved glitches. This was also advised by our BGO. Same as above that DS received confirmation that English was submitted but the portal shows it not being submitted, SAT scores...

    "incomplete" status

Just reinforcing here that it's nothing wrong that your DS or DD has done. Looks like programming issues in the portal that should get sorted. I can confidently say this as the Progress box has an X next to SAT scores received yet 1/8th inch below it lists the SAT scores -- that were sent from...

Army ROTC Portal - down or individual problem - 08-13-14?

DS is not on this forum. Has not been able to get past the log-in page 8-13 or today, 8-14. Has anyone accessed yesterday or today without issue? If yes, we'll know it is an individual problem. Thanks. One bite (or byte) at a time . . . . .

Start Early with DoDMERB - another example - should make you laugh if you're not the recipient

As an update, DoDMERB outperformed expectations. All fixed within 24 hours. Still START AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE! Cap tip to DodMERB on the response and fix time is indeed in order.

Start Early with DoDMERB - another example - should make you laugh if you're not the recipient

Please, please start your DoDMERB as soon as it opens. Here is an example why -- wholly unrelated to the actual process. We live in State X. DS was assigned medical, optometrist, etc. in Puerto Rico -- couple thousand miles away. Though it might be nice for a vacation, there were no planned...

USNA Building To Be Renamed for President Jimmy Carter

One of the greatest Second Acts of all time. Wrong time or wrong person for the job - whatever or whichever. His life after the Presidency is one of exemplary service to humanity.

Advice for talking to a parent about West Point

Dad of a '22 USMA grad. Tough spot you are in. There is a great Army-Navy pregame spot from about 4 or 5 years ago called "The More Things Change." There's a part in there where a mom says "It's the unselfish thing" and another "Sometimes, you just gotta let em go." It's on YouTube - watch to...

    Nostalgia :)

Here is some nostalgia: six years ago USMA '22 opened his SLE portal. This morning, little brother opened his. Buckling up for another year of anticipation. Good luck Pepp1224.

Travel preferences for incoming new cadets going to R-day (West Point)

As to family attending, all well said above with A Day over R Day, but if you can swing both, by all means. In the Visitor's Center it is good for your family to get a 50K foot perspective of what the four years will include, which with each year and each subsequent visit have new depth of...

Defense bill closes door on pro sports after graduation...

Fairness prevailed and it seems an amendment was passed last evening to permit any Mid or Cadet who joined before 2021 to be granted a waiver. Those after need to choose whether to affirm and serve or take their chances at another institution and a possible pro career. We can debate the pros and...

SCOTUS Affirmative Action decision could affect Service Academy and ROTC

DS was a first round, four year NROTC scholarship winner, admitted to one Ivy, and during an interview with another Ivy was told that as a white male his chances of admission were a long shot. Debate team captain kicked in and he went down the list of "suppose I was" X, Y or Z. Yep, the only...

SCOTUS Affirmative Action decision could affect Service Academy and ROTC

Summary: We're going to continue to have race as a factor in our admissions decisions. We'll just be better at disguising it. That whole thing about not judging on the basis of race whether in Dr. King's appeal to our better natures or the embodiment of that principle in the 14th Amendment --...
