    NROTC Marine Option help

Just a heads up, on the college pre-paid program. In Florida, the program will pay out to out-of-state or private schools, at a pro-rated amount, every $$ helps when trying to ensure the bills are paid. Your state might have the same type of offering. It keeps the options a little more open...

    New here

Welcome, there are some great reads on this site. Try to tackle a little at a time. Your DS is a sophomore. You have time to try to read up on this. A lot of our DS/DD have their own accounts on here and use this forum to do some research. Good Luck on your adventure- you will find there are...

    Navy-Notre Dame Game this Saturday

It was a great game. Now DD can always say her first college game was Navy!!! No matter what school she ends up attending next fall. The crowd was great, we had both ND and N all around us. But none of that ugliness you get when you end up in the wrong section of the stadium.

We are waiting for that also, to my understanding...nursing is mid-November so we won't know until early December. Good Luck

    Navy-Notre Dame Game this Saturday

I am taking DD to the game in Jacksonville this Saturday. Never been to a Navy Football game before. Any traditions I should look for - besides, of course, enjoying watching the game. (I am an old Navy Chief so I will of course wear Blue/Gold).

    Nursing NROTC-sideload question

Thank you. Capt MJ - yes USPHS is on the radar as one of her choices. We are lucky, she has Florida pre-paid if she doesn't get the NROTC scholarship - so if the scholarship is not awarded, she will go to college! Just have to look at Plan B for the route to commissioning. There are a huge...

    Nursing NROTC-sideload question

I am a little confused by your question. If you get a nursing degree, why would you not pursue a nursing job? (military or civilian). If you are asking why my DD does not pursue that path. First and foremost, she wants to be a Nurse. If she doesn't get NROTC Nursing Option, there are many other...

    Nursing NROTC-sideload question

Thank you. I thought that was what I understood but I started doubting myself. There are great opportunities for additional scholarships for nursing (just not with the NROTC program) once my DD starts college that will lead to a commission in the Navy Nursing Corp. Trying to make sure our Plan...

What things should I improve on?

If you are asking about the Boy States nomination, each American Legion Post is different- but in our area- our high school had the ability to nominate more than one girl and boy, the students were given the application to fill out and they were interviewed by the American Legion Post. Do you...

    Nursing NROTC-sideload question

Odd question, hoping someone would know. My DD is applying for the NROTC -Nursing option. She has plan A-Z, as the numbers are very tight. With the research, we know that some scholarships are restricted (as only NROTC-Navy option and some NROTC-MO option). Does anyone know if the sideload...

AROTC - # of collegs on application?

During your college visits, you can contact the ROTC units ahead of time and visit with them. It is invaluable for your child to actually visit and see what ROTC (Army or Navy-Marine Option -commonly referred to as Navy-MO) is like, your child can meet with a current student and find out what...

    Scholarship Backup Plan?

At college, you can attend (join) the ROTC (Army, AF, Navy) without being on scholarship up to two years (just before your junior year). I believe it is as similar as signing up for the class with your college course work. Visit the school ROTC unit if possible. If not, visit an unit at a...

    Scholarship Backup Plan?

First, are you set on one service over the other? Navy Nursing, AF Nursing and Army Nursing are not exactly the same. Close- but different duties, type of locations (field medical centers, brick/mortar hospital, flying nurses, etc...). If you are not set on one or other, just want to service...

I don't know if the military is for me

Now is the time you are going to be asking yourself these life questions. What you need to do is to keep the grades up so that all your options are available to you. First, there are some great civilian universities/colleges - just because they are not service academies, that does not mean you...

Contacted By AROTC Units Before Any Board Results?

Jacksonville University (JU) has one of the largest NROTC programs (with the Marine Option and Nursing Option) available here in Florida. Yes, they are private - but they are very NROTC friendly. They current provide housing to the NROTC scholarship students (all 4 years). Just another...

    The wait begins....NROTC

I would have a discussion with the assigned recruiter for your application. If you don't know who that is, on the netfocus page that shows you what you are missing...their name is listed. Let them know, they can work with you on these questions. We had one teacher who just couldn't seem to...
