    NROTC-MO - RIT v. VT

All I can say is that if/when you visit Rochester if you don't get a garbage plate you have failed. Never went to U of R or RIT but have many friends that did (non rotc) and they liked it. In regards to what was said about ubers being expensive... You need a car to live in Rochester unless...

    Cortramid-2020 & USNA Summer Cruises - UNOFFICIALLY - Canceled

Section 3.Q. of NAVADMIN 116/20 released yesterday. All midshipman summer training cancelled except for OCS and SOAS. No official word that I've heard on 1/c cruise but likely waived for everyone that took a 2/c cruise last summer, and an academic year cruise for those who didn't.

public transport to/from USNA and BWI as well as No. Virginia

Just a note about going end to end on the same line on metro, it's ~$10 depending if you're traveling during peak hours or not. Also gonna take a long while as noted above. On the plus side at least with Verizon you have signal in most areas underground. If you really want to save money, it's a...

Anyone hear of NROTC summer cruise dates yet? I know its early!

What class is your mid? 1/c have random cruises depending on when the ship/boat/squadron they are going to can have them, 2/c have sea trials which are ~1 month long and there are 5 of them over the entire summer (the last one is like 10days), and 3/c have cortramid and the days above are correct.

How to balance AFROTC, college, and work?

Hey also remember that while you might want to be a hardo and grind as much as possible, you can't. You need time to chill out, whether it's watching Netflix, playing video games, or just chill with friends. Depending on what your job is you might never get the break you need. It's difficult to...

    Well Regarded NROTC Units

@JAGman while you agree with picking the school first, you chose one of the very few exceptions to that rule! Texas AnM is a corps of cadets school, and i would strongly recommend not going there unless you understand what the corps aspect is like. It plays a major part in your rotc and...

2 week NROTC Orientation - Middle of the Summer?

A quick follow-up-- the candidates will not receive any qualifications in pistol, firefighting or DC, it is just an introduction. They WILL get qualifications during 2/C cruise.

2 week NROTC Orientation - Middle of the Summer?

This new orientation is being test run with this year's class of midshipman candidates. I had the opportunity to speak with the captain in charge of all nrotc units and they are implementing more uniformity in the nrotc program with this new orientation and the "crucible" for 2/C cruise. Your DS...

    NROTC Fitness Standards

Max Max relax- no valid excuse for not maxing push and sit, its all repetition. Do enough of them and you can easily Max both. Obviously don't actually relax on the run, still try your best but you shouldn't expect to Max that as I think the max is 8 minutes. Again to do well on the run you...

    Height Waiver

I don't know if this is true for dodmerb but for your pt tests if you are 57 1/4 inches you're going to be put down as 58.

    ROTC Schedule

I believe my year the nrotc application opened in April. Check the websites to be sure. Definitely don't rush to fill them out but be timely as you want to make the first board which is in September or October I believe.

    Urine Test

The dodmerb urine test is for excess sugar and/or proteins (I believe). It is NOT a drug test, but be prepared to participate in urinalysis frequently if you are awarded an appointment or scholarship. No great night is worth $100k+.

    Books to Read?

I Looked briefly at the list and can recommend Sea Power by Adm James Stravidis. Very engaging writer and I liked how he broke it up with history and his own personal experience.
