Wait! Are you giving out PII? Your address?? Or is this merely a business location, where we can send our offerings and tributes?

    NROTC Summer Course Work

Also, if I recall correctly, required calculus and physics classes had to be taken at your assigned university. I think you could get approval to take them at another NROTC host university, but not a community college or university that does not have an NROTC unit.

I thought I'd take this thread back to its roots; a Broadside cartoon.

Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

I'm a big bourbon fan. One of my favorites is Blanton's. I learned today that the bourbon's namesake is Col. Albert BACON Blanton. Coincidence? I think not.

    Waitlisted at first choice

Okay, so he is definitely still in the running. Especially if out of state U of M does not admit many on early action. If he wants to do there, I would suggest contacting his admissions counsellor with a letter of continued interest, stating that is where he wants to go; his scholarships in...

    Waitlisted at first choice

You can apply to a school. Apply for and be awarded a scholarship and have it placed at that school, but then ultimately not be admitted to that school. If this happens, you would have to move your scholarship to a school where you have been admitted. The school admissions process is...

    Waitlisted at first choice

Was he waitlisted or deferred to regular admissions. My DS applied EA to Michigan in 2017. Around December he was Deferred to regular admission and in January was admitted during the first wave of regular admissions. He had already secured an NROTC scholarship and advised his admissions...

    NROTC SCHOLARSHIP

One thing to keep in mind, if you use the NROTC scholarship for room and board, that money becomes taxable. If used for tuition it is not.

    Dad Joke thread (everybody welcome)

I decided to go to the store to buy a bottle of whiskey the other day. There store isn't far, so I decided to ride my bike to get a little exercise. As I walked out of the store with my bottle, I got a little concerned; what if I fell and broke the bottle on my way home? So I decided to drink...

    JORM

i was able to visit DS for a Family Day cruise when he was in Japan. I felt incredibly fortunate to get to attend a Hail and Farewell get-together while I was there. This included a "talent show" and election of a new JORG from among about 8 new Ensigns who had recently arrived. Seeing the...

Sailing or surf lessons, I love that idea. DS just got to Charleston, so this is going in my gift ideas for B-day in March. That or maybe a scuba refresher course.

    Navy Nuclear Power School

DS is getting settled in Charleston. Got the keys to his apartment a couple days ago and picked up his unaccompanied baggage (kitchen stuff and linens) from the movers the other day. Household goods are there, but can't be delivered until the 8th. Guess its good we gave him our good air bed...

    NROTC Summer Ideas

DS did an internship at a Navy research facility outside DC between his 3c and 2c years. It was a great experience for him. This internship was not limited to ROTC, but aligned with his major. He learned about the opportunity from his academic advisor for his major I believe. Just be aware...

    Navy Nuclear Power School

Very interesting. I did not know aviators preparing to command a carrier went through nuke school. I guess it makes sense. DS will be home this week from Japan for a short leave, then head off to nuke school. Actually OOD Phase II, then nuke pre-school.
