Better to learn you have a bad CPA on this subject than having him cost you thousands in penalties. Unless your taxes are complicated I would vote on Turbotax.

Son has been declined by USNA and Coast Guard Academy due to color deficiency issues. Hoping there will be good news forthcoming from the Air Force Academy. Like most others this process started in February of 2016.

I don't think he found out what color combinations he had issues with but I'm thinking it was red/white. He hasn't heard an official "no" yet but the baseball coach that recruited him didn't seem optimistic.

Actually my son received his TWE saying he was medically disqualified from attending the USNA after I wrote that reply. lol. I know there are a few waivers given for color blindness but my son evidently didn't get one.

Unfortunately my son didn't pass his secondary color vision test (Farnsworth Lantern) so he will not be attending the Coast Guard Academy. Good luck to everyone else in the running.

Someone with knowledge on this subject define what is meant by "waiver". For instance if a appointee failed the PIP and then allowed to take the Farnsworth Lantern test but fails that does a waiver allow him to still get in?

I contacted DoDMERB and the lady there said that there is a review board that decides whether to grant a waiver. I'm assuming that the review board is separate from DoDMERB and the Service Academies.
