Can any Old Grads put my mind at ease?

Hey everyone, I know this is super late in the thread and basically irrelevant at this point in the semester, but I just wanted to point out a key reason for small portions in the mess hall. I was cadre for CBT last summer (summer 2020) and we had the same issue for a few weeks in the mess hall...

    Adjutant General vs Quartermaster

Hello! Could someone with experiences regarding one officer position or both talk a little bit about them? I attended Branch Week again this year and still had a tough time distinguishing between the two. Thank you!

    A-Day News?

@Love4monsters @Casey My class last year was the first to do "Ruck Back" instead of Run Back. It was said that rucking provides a more tactical approach and moving in a staggered column unfazed is more intimidating to the New Cadets of "what's to come".

    More sock questions...

Hi! I'm a CBT Squad Leader this summer. Like people said above, don't sweat it. If your son or daughter arrived with only the clothes on their backs, they would be fine, we would accept them, and if they needed anything, they would get the opportunity to buy items. Your child will be taken care...

Definitely easier. There are several components of normal CBT that they took out - such as a longer land navigation. And no matter how hard it is, CBT is 2 weeks shorter. That is 2 weeks less of early mornings, field days, training, physical fitness, etc.

I'm not exactly sure why they scrambled us, but most aren't too happy. However, it is what it is and we will all be working very hard to be good leadership for the new cadets. The CBT COs are up in the air, currently, regarding their situation in relation to the AY.

What am I specifically looking forward to for CBT? This is really my first major role in leadership. I really want to see how I can impact my New Cadets, despite us all scrambling. Most of the cadre scrambled, so your CBT Leadership will not be in your company in the AY. Be prepared to move...

They do issue backpacks for class! They're definitely not the most stylish, but they have good pockets and a pouch for devices. When the school year began, I got my parents to send me my North Face backpack that I had in high school (black), and then I Sharpie'd out the logo. It's just...

2020 CBT Squad Leader - AMA

That's the thing - I was so nitpicky about this. I spent hours trying to figure out the right backpack or duffel bag. I ended up fitting all my stuff in my little sister's soccer backpack. Just pack everything into it carefully - you won't have it for long on R-Day, and you won't see it for a...

This is based on what summer detail they got. Most likely, rising yuks received either CFT 1 or 2, and that will determine their report date. I think most begin early July.

The color doesn't matter very much. The cadre won't get on you for that at all. I saw black, coyote brown, a forest looking green, tan, etc. Just nothing flashy.

So 550 cord can be used to stabilize rifle attachments, tie things together, or you can burn the edges and it secures things. It really does come in handy. You definitely don't need an entire spool, but I brought about 10 pre-cut lengths and gave some away during CBT.

Definitely take classes that would mimic plebe year. Try to take chemistry, calculus, and maybe physics at your college. Work out. That's huge. If you have the chance to, get in contact with your ROTC Department and maybe a liaison can help there too.

If I can remember correctly, I got about 40ft for the basketball throw, 3 pull-ups, 7.0 shuttle run(ish), 95 crunches/situps, 25 pushups, and a 7:00 mile time. These are just estimates, sorry.

I wasn't prepared for exactly that - the unexpected. I was alright physically and a really strong rucker, but there were so many days when transportation failed and we had to wait for hours, sometimes it rained in the field when it wasn't supposed to and we weren't prepared, etc. I wish I was...

I think it was my GPA. I switched schools 3 times in my first year of high school and because of that and other things, I got a few Cs here and there. My junior/senior year was basically all As, and I ended up a lot better than I started. Though it was a massive improvement, I felt that West...

Hi All, I've been on this forum for several years now. I didn't have any support from family getting into West Point, so I applied to all 5 on my own and can speak to those experiences if anyone has any questions. West Point was the service academy I didn't get into on my first attempt, but I...

    USMA womens heels

Yeah, there's really never a time where we wear them apart from nice dinners/class events, and you are authorized to wear low quarters instead too. You can buy any compliant black heels. They can be shiny or matte, pointed toe or not, and max 3 inch heel from what I remember.
