    JROTC Nomination

Hey all, I noticed on USMA's website that they say any ROTC distinguished unit, regardless of branch, can nominate cadets from their unit. I am part of a Air Force JUNIOR ROTC distinguished unit, and was able to get the nomination for USAFA, but I am wondering if it is possible for me to get it...

    Ethical Dilemma

Hey all, Quick question... maybe I'm overthinking/overcomplicating things: One of the prompts for the USAFA application is "Describe a setback or ethical dilemma that you have faced. How did you resolve it? How did the outcome affect you? Most importantly, what did you learn about yourself...

    USNA board meetings

Does all of the above stated by these posters apply to USMA and USAFA as well?

    USNA board meetings

Sorry, I should clarify. I meant to ask if my application will be looked at before others without a nomination will be looked at. Or do all applications get reviewed based on when they are submitted?

    AP or JROTC

Agree Hoodlum 15. Do what you enjoy, but find ways to develop and demonstrate your leadership abilities. JROTC is a great way to do that, but you can also do it with your other extracurricular. However, JROTC definitely is a much more engaging and impactful experience when it comes to leadership...

    AP or JROTC

Also, one last suggestion. DO take AP Lang, not for the sake of your application, but to improve your writing skills. Essays can make a big difference in any admissions process if they're written well.

    AP or JROTC

If you're going to choose JROTC, I would highly recommend going to the instructors and showing your interest and motivation. Just like the "real world," in JROTC, getting leadership positions isn't all about performance; making connections with the instructors, helping them understand who you...

    AP or JROTC

I don't really think there's anything that is necessarily "best" for you. More so than focusing on taking one class over another, I would suggest focusing on your ACT and SAT. There's plenty of resources online that can help you get an outstanding score. You can talk about the whole person...

    USNA board meetings

Fairly obscure question of insignificance, but does anyone have knowledge of how often the USNA board meets?

    Blue and Gold Interview

What makes my situation even more strange is that I am in a area where the Naval Academy is very well known. I actually had no moments where he was informing me about the academy... The whole time it was me answering questions

    NROTC scholarship decision question...

The first board was almost two weeks ago. Last year, results typically came out two weeks after the board met. If they're following that pattern this year, results for the first board will be coming out at the earliest this friday.

    Blue and Gold Interview

Interesting. Thanks. Just wondering especially because my west point interview was only about an hour. Interestingly, their website actually states the interview should only last 10-15 minutes.

    Blue and Gold Interview

What is the usual length of a Blue and Gold interview? The B&G officer in my area has a reputation for having incredibly long and unfortunately dry interviews. I did mine several months ago and it took roughly three hours, and I was wondering if any of you know if this is normal.

    NROTC Board Dates

first meeting for the board was yesterday and it continues to meet till the 27th. Expect to hear back in two weeks ONLY if you get selected.

    National Merit Scholarship

I would assume that West Point would specify "finalists" if it really were only finalists. My guess is that it includes both semi-finalists and finalists. Recognition other than that usually goes to certain ethnicities, or it is not recognition officially from the collegeboard.

    ACT Scores

I definitely understand what you mean, however, I have already signed up for the test. ___________ Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Once again, to clarify, am I understanding correctly that if I score higher in the next test I take, even if my application has been viewed...

    ACT Scores

My current ACT super score is 33 with: 35 English, 35 Reading, 32 Science, and 29 Math. The reason I am retaking is so I can raise my math score, which I know I am fully capable of. I am already medically qualified and I have a presidential nomination. Of course, I am applying to my...

    ACT Scores

Hello, I am taking the October ACT but am basically finished with my USNA application. Would it be wise to wait to submit my application until my scores have come out, or will they consider my new scores even if I have submitted my application earlier. Also, I know that with NROTC your...
