Sorry, I should clarify. I meant to ask if my application will be looked at before others without a nomination will be looked at. Or do all applications get reviewed based on when they are submitted?

Agree Hoodlum 15. Do what you enjoy, but find ways to develop and demonstrate your leadership abilities. JROTC is a great way to do that, but you can also do it with your other extracurricular. However, JROTC definitely is a much more engaging and impactful experience when it comes to leadership...

Also, one last suggestion. DO take AP Lang, not for the sake of your application, but to improve your writing skills. Essays can make a big difference in any admissions process if they're written well.

The first board was almost two weeks ago. Last year, results typically came out two weeks after the board met. If they're following that pattern this year, results for the first board will be coming out at the earliest this friday.

I would assume that West Point would specify "finalists" if it really were only finalists. My guess is that it includes both semi-finalists and finalists. Recognition other than that usually goes to certain ethnicities, or it is not recognition officially from the collegeboard.
