    Class of 2025-Official Candidate yet?

Only thing happening at USNA this summer will be Plebe summer. Sorry your kids will be missing out! Good luck to your kids!

Candidate Visit Weekend Rescinded - Thoughts?

DO NOT MISS THE SENATOR INTERVIEW!!! Contact USNA to see if you can reschedule the CVW. The Congressional and Senatorial interviews are held within a very tight windows. Your son needs a nomination and eliminating a source for one would be short sighted. Just my opinion. Good luck!

    Medical Advice Needed

Is your son currently a senior in HS? I'm having trouble figuring that out. If so, as stated by so many others, he's way late to the party. Regarding his medical condition, my son had one MRI when he was a junior in HS on a shoulder. It came back clean and showed no injury but still triggered a...

    2/C Loan Question

I searched for a thread using a few different phrases and didn’t come up with much. I trust my son to have done his share of research I just wanted to be better informed

    2/C Loan Question

There have been many different opinions offered regarding "the loan." My question for all you experienced folks - are there financial advisers available to the mids at USNA? A company called First Command has been recommended to me but my son was concerned there would be fees involved. He's...

    School Superitendent's Son

Just a mom of a 2/C offering her 2 cents...If this candidate needs that much 'help' I can't help but believe USNA Admissions will see right through the BS. If the kid didn't have the stuff to legitimately earn anything it will be apparent. Also, just attending Boys' State isn't as important as...

    NASS Pictures

Anyone out there please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember any official photo albums available for NASS when my son attended. I will promise you a gazillion photos to scour during Plebe Summer. They aren't plebes or mids yet so I wouldn't expect much. Go luck to your applicants!

    Closing Ceremony NASS

IMHO unless they are picking you up anyway, there is really no reason for your parents to attend the closing ceremony. I did have to pick my son up by car so I did go but it was very anticlimactic. Just my opinion.

    I-day

I haven't read every single post but to the OP, the swearing in ceremony was aired live on-line during my son's IDay swearing in. That may make your parents happy to know they can watch the special occasion. Good luck! GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

    How much money?

My son (current Youngster) does not get an allowance from me. If there's something he needs we have an Amazon Prime account and big ticket extras I can't get on Amazon, I send to him. He figured out pretty quickly that Ubers add up and he reigned that in. I'm not sure if he's the norm or just...

    Bipolar roommate?

That's nuts and also speaks to the lack of character if dishonest on the questionnaire.

    Astigmatism

I believe he's a doc and very educated on all things USNA based on what I've read...knows his stuff!

    Too late to the party?

Those scores are fairly low. I recommend, as a mom who's son went thru this for 2021, you sign up for as many SAT and ACT testing sessions you can. You'll indicate you want your scores sent to all colleges/universities and SAs. The SAs will pick your best score from all the scores submitted...

Can my Senators discriminate against me?

My now Youngster was on the Board of his Republican Club (also super liberal hs) as well as another very obviously pro-military club and laid out his resume to reflect just that. Not a problem.

    DODMERB DQ

Not at all....you'll be issued a lovely pair of "Birth Control" glasses plebe summer as a matter of fact!

    Bipolar roommate?

How in the world did a bi-polar diagnosis never mind the medication slip through the DoDMERB screening? My son had one MRI that turned up nothing and needed a medical waiver?

    Mid Store Rules

Yes to all. You won't have tons of time during PS to go, but you will get to go.

    Application help

    Definitely, change your member name.

    Advantages to Early Filing

There is no magic eight ball for the admissions process. I'm sure you've read that or something similar many times on this board. If you are confident you're submitting your best self, go for it. My now Youngster filed mid-August and was happy it was complete and just patiently (NOT) waited...

    CFA question

Erging is one of the best all-around training tools. I'm sure you're familiar with the machine (insert sarcasm). Do not undervalue old fashioned pull ups, situps and pushups. As THParent said, it's 50% of the CFA.
