HS sports vs non- HS sports

I’m looking for some input from you wise ones😊. DD just started HS and has mentioned she is interested in USNA. She knows sports, leadership, grades & community service are all critical. Her HS does not have gymnastics and she has been doing it at the YMCA since she was a toddler. Covid hit and...

    Denied Appointment- Applying Again

I agree with others and ask your RC on what areas they feel you could improve upon. My DS is at USMA but was also a re-applicant. His freshman at Univ he worked his tail off, used his ROTC scholarship but was open about reapplying so he was able to get ROTC nom along with sen /congress. His RC...

USMA Overnight Visit, Night 0 and Day 1

Deb Dalton is most likely the parent liaison rep who spoke with you and she is amazing! She keeps us parents informed (...and in check! Lol) If she doesn’t have the answer, she will find it & get back to us. Her phone must blow up with notifications from all of us🤪! If your DS does end up at...

    USMA Class Size 2024?

Some did not even report that day, so their plans have changed. Some were medical turn backs, and a few dropped during the day.

R Day for Class of 2024

My DS siblings both attended (17 & 14). The grands attended too. It is a long hot day with a lot of walking & crowds but there was no talking them out of it. In the end, it’s each family’s preference. Some kids go solo, and other go with just a parent/s.

    Waiver denied... is it over?

It’s not DoDMERB, it’s the service academy. They decide whether to pursue a waiver. First year DS contacted his RC about his DQ and was told he was in the middle of the pack for both him Nom slates, so most likely would not pursue a waiver. Second year it all moved so fast but we suspect he was...

Reapplying to West Point 1st Year College

DS was a re-app, ROTC, plebe like classes, Dean’s list, etc. He also was DQ’d beginning of Feb, waiver was requested. We were nervous bc that letter said requesting waiver ( great!) but that it would take 90-120 days. It specified his records would be reviewed by WP head doctor ( apology for not...

Reapplying to West Point 1st Year College

My DS is currently a cadet at USMA but he too received a TWE, went to plan B school & did ROTC. Many re-applicants do not start hearing until late Feb. if you look at last year’s dates on the thread, you can see dates & who’s a reapplication. DS didn’t hear until beginning of March even though...

    Waiver denied... is it over?

DS rec’d a waiver his first go around applying from AF but was denied by the others. His second year applying he only wanted one academy and USMA granted him a waiver this time. He is currently a Plebe! Follow your dreams!

Applying to West Point as a college freshman.

DS was a successful reapplicant. True the processes much the same. To Davejean90 ‘s point, DS had to really make a point of getting to know some of his college instructors right away since he wanted to ask them for letters. DS also took SATs again, but in another state bc too difficult to get...

    reapplying after medical dq

Our DS reapplied to WP after medical DQ last year ( shoulder surgery) and is reporting to R-day on Monday. He went to Plan B school, did ROTC, reapplied and got waiver this time. If DS/DD is passionate about it still in the fall, tell them to reapply & follow their Dreams!

    TWE by mail only?

That is what my DS did! He also participated in ROTC ( another nomination source) and this year is proudly reporting to USMA on Rday. Go to your plan B school, and if you still have a burning passion in September then go for it. Wish you the best of luck next year in your next adventure-...

    Chance of getting spirit pass

I thought spirit passes were only for Army/Navy events other that football? For example: soccer, basketball etc. So can DS maybe try for spirit passes at an event/school where his best friend goes ( with TAC approval)?

    iPad

DS was recently asked WP about the iPad. They said it is not needed for any classes. Only a laptop would be issued. Many cadets have them but more for entertainment ( Netflix). I believe you need to let their IT at it to put it on the network to get WiFi.

    validating courses

Ok, maybe a silly question...so bear with me;). DS is a college re-applicant, so does he take these tests during Beast? After the results, if he tests well does he get a choice about validating, taking adv class or staying in reg section? Or does USMA put him automatically based on test results?

AMA - Accepted Soldier Candidate | Admin Kit Complete

I actually called bc DS doesn't wear glasses so I didn't know if we needed a Dr to sign off saying no, but the tech on the phone said don't worry about it and she'd check it off as green on her end. I wish the rest were that easy! I uploaded DS soc sec card and birth certificate the other day...
