    Falcon Foundation Scholarship Recipients

Peppypea, If your son is self-prepping, NWP is a great option. Roughly half of our 2017 class was self-prep, and the numbers of appointments are pretty good. Most self-preps applied to multiple academies and for ROTC scholarships, and keep in mind it is not a guarantee as emtet emphasized...

    Falcon Foundation Scholarship

I received my rejection letter last year around this time as well and immediately proceeded to plan B, AFROTC at state school. This was my plan until the end of May, last day of my senior year when I was given a Falcon Scholarship and accepted. I went to NWP first semester and there were a...

    Falcon foundation scholarship 2018

PTSV, I went to NWP with a 30 super-score (29 math) on the ACT and never had taken the SAT. I left NWP with a 33 super-score (36 math) and a 1390 SAT. The Durbecks do an excellent job with standardized test prep. They know what they are doing and what they do works... everyone improves...

    Falcon foundation scholarship 2018

Mintyicedtea, There are several ways I believe NWP taught me how to study and improved my study habits. 1. The classes are difficult. If you want your dreams to come true, you need to work for it, and the Durbecks reminded us of that every day. If you wanted to succeed, you studied and learned...

    Falcon foundation scholarship 2018

Congratulations on the falcon scholarship! It is the golden ticket and you should be proud. I am a Falcon Scholar that attended NWP in the fall and am in my second semester back at home. I received my appointment a few weeks back and feel a million times more prepared for the academy than I...

    SAT score

Ahhhhh check that scoreboard on the pool buddy. As for the shoes, let’s blame that on the shimmy shuffle

    SAT score

I agree with Jenkins, submit as you take them. USAFA only takes the highest scores and it is cheaper to chose to send the scores when you sign up for the test. Took both the ACT and the SAT. SAT (750, 640) ACT (36, 31)

    Allowable boots?

First off, congratulations to all those appointed so far and good luck to those still waiting. In the instructions to candidates booklet, it gives the following requirements for purchasing boots for BCT. "By the time you arrive at the boot issue station on in-processing day, you will have been...

    Reapplicant

It’s all a matter of perspective. Each year there are many dedicated and qualified applicants who enter our nations prep schools as free agents with the intent of applying for a service academy. To many, this shows the ultimate commitment to work towards your goal to attend the academy. However...

    Reapplicant

I'm going to put in a good word for prep school. I attended NWP on a Falcon Scholarship, and, while I am on scholarship, it was well worth it. If you are dead set on the academy and are a competitive applicant, do considered attending a prep school. Northwestern Prep and the Durbeck's have an...

    When should I find out?

Congratulations on your application and your nom. It all depends on how competitive you are. The majority of the appointments are given end-Feb to mid-March. Last year, I didn't hear until the end of April. The key to this is patience. In general, the appointments that have gone out up to this...

    Newbie question about prep schools

Buckeyefan, before I try and shed some light on your question about the prep schools, it is absolutely necessary your son makes his own life decisions in the service academy process. If he doesn't want to be an officer in the United States military, then there is no point forcing him to attend...

Prep School vs Civilian Prep School

If you are looking into prep schools, Northwestern Prep is the way to go. The Durbecks have taught me more in the past few months than I learned my senior year of high school. Truly amazing mentors and an excellent school. Good luck!

    defer rotc?

I guess it's already been answered, but I had the same question with an AFROTC scholarship last spring. It was a resounding "no" then too :) Best of luck!

Naval Officer Interview Hasn't Been Submitted. Options?

The same thing happened with my Army and AF rotc officer interviews last year. Be patient, it's a good quality. If it gets down to the last two to three weeks before the deadline and it still isn't in, contact the officer. Just the way I'd do it. Good luck to you and your son!
