Hi there! I see no reason why he wouldn't be able to do what you are proposing - the ROTC participation would be something of a resume booster, especially if he held leadership roles within the battalion; and on the academic side the classes would be counted as electives (unless they aren't, at...
Hi there! I had ADD, applied to USNA, went the VMI route, earned a commission and just completed Naval Rotary Wing Pilot Training.
I was diagnosed with ADD in the second grade, and went through different meds the entire time I was in grade school, up until my sophomore year, when I decided I...
Hi there! VMI '21 and Navy advanced standing recipient. First off, a huge congratulations on being awarded the scholarship and choosing to attend VMI. I used the GI Bill to attend, so though not identical situations, it is close enough for government work (I'll see myself out).
For your...
If you’re stopping in Lexington, Macado’s is a Keydet staple, as is The Palms. Seeing VMI is half of the visit, make sure you go into town to round out the experience!
I seem to recall someone here who was an aerospace/aeronatical engineer, wanted pilot, had the PT/GPA/Aptitude/ASTB for it, until he got selected for SWO(n)?
It's no study guide, but this document details what is in the test, at least for the Performance-Based Measures. I used a Barron's ASTB book to help with ANIT prep. The Air Warriors forums would probably cede more information!
I can't speak to whether or not it is normal.... but if you haven't already, take a long, good look at NROTC. I applied to the Academy, and didn't make the cut. Granted, it stung, but it turned out to be the best rejection I ever received.
@momx3 @goirish1 has anyone heard anything from respective Chains of Command? Mine is saying that cruise "low-possibility," yet the aviation-selects are being measured for flight suits this week. Meanwhile we have no official word on waivers for 1/C Cruise.
My unit is saying no- current MIDN 3/C will go on a 2/C cruise, perhaps Sea Trials. It seems that NETC is still working out the timing for that particular evolution.
I know I certainly made mine with no prior "real" exposure- I picked up Advanced Standing, expecting to go on 1/C cruise. Briefs...
Congrats to your son on picking up! All cruises fall into those blocks, so yes, first class cruise iwill be in one of those blocks. He may be reqired to go to Sea Trials, and may volunteer to serve as a MIDN Instructor at New Student Indoctrination (NSI).
