Mine lasted 2.5, you're not alone! I also live in an area where the academy is well known. I think BGOs just enjoy getting to know their candidates as well as possible(and sharing as many sea tales as they can get out in 2.5 hours;))

Fleming is known for being one of the most cynical and negative writers about the Naval Academy. He has published many books and articles criticizing the Academy and its process of creating leaders. Like OP said, its only one person's writing.

I was in the exact situation as you are now about three months ago, I called the office and asked. The counselor said to send them ASAP and your preliminary app will be updated. I was granted CIS access about two weeks after my scores got there.

I agree with kinnem 100%. Do something you'll enjoy. For me, that was volunteering on a congressional campaign. Whatever you do, do it because you want to, not because you think volunteering looks better, etc.
