    NASS communication question

Thank you! DS printed off the instructions to report to baggage claim area and look for the midshipmen. I just thought maybe USNA would want the students travel info so they knew who they were picking up. I guess I am just over thinking it, thanks again.

    NASS communication question

Was thinking about DS going to NASS session 3. He is currently at SLE. Do they get any more communication from USNA regarding transportation? I remember for SLE that DS had to enter in his travel itinerary to the portal. Unless he has received something this week via email I don’t think...

    SLE session 1 CFA

Glad to hear there was an error! DS forwarded his stat email from from SLE and when I compared it to your DS I couldn’t figure out how your DS didn’t pass, as he had better mile time and sit ups. Our DS was relieved he had passed but hopes to improve at NASS as well.

Dismal BB throw during CFA at SLE

@Sam2018 For future reference how did DS send scores from one academy to the other? Was it as simple as an email to admissions? Our DS is at SLE and going to NASS in a couple weeks. So I assume he will need to send the best score to the other academy and to USAFA as well.

Dismal BB throw during CFA at SLE

Our DS is also currently at SLE and said the BB throw was tough. He mentioned the balls were smoother then what he had used at home for practice. I am sure nerves played a roll too. DS did not say what his best distance was but said he can do better. I am so excited to get to hear all his...

    SLE

Our DS was accepted into Session 1 SLE and Session 1 NASS. Luckily he was able to switch to Session 3 of NASS. He will have a busy June with SLE followed by Boys State followed by NASS. It was tricky when DS applied to both he knew he was only available for NASS Session 1 or 3 and SLE...

    Summer Seminar 2018

Our DS is in the same boat. When he applied to NASS and SLE he put the dates he was available to both, being Session 1 and 3 for NASS and Session 1 for SLE. (He has Boys state the week in between.) He was accepeted into NASS early Feb and had to accept and pay for NASS before he heard back...

    SLE Class 2023

@GoCubbies My DS is in the same boat. He received acceptance to NASS yesterday. He really wants to attend SLE if given the opportunity. If not he will be happy with NASS. We plan to wait until the last minute to accept to see if he hears back from USMA. @AZWPDad04 Thanks for this...

what is meant by "rigor" of high school re: USNA

I know this thread is a week old and this is a little off topic but a question concerning class rank. It was mentioned multiple times in this thread that USNA puts most weight on test scores and class rank. Our DS is from small town USA, he is currently ranked 7 out 30, (GPA 3.8 and ACT 31)...

    NASS

Our DS got the email he was accepted to NASS for this summer. He just snapped me at work with a picture of the email!

    Where can I improve?

I was Captain on my freshman football team, sophomore football team, and varsity as a senior. For baseball, I was captain on my sophomore baseball team as a freshman, and then captain on Varsity as a junior, I don't want to assume that I will be captain in my senior year, but junior captains are...

    Where can I improve?

I was wondering about that too. Our DS is a junior this year and has not had the opportunity to captain anything yet and really will not get that opportunity until his senior year. It's an honor only offered to the top seniors each year. This is the same with some other leadership...

    Still struggling with ACT.

I completely understand the small rural school worries. We are from rural America as well. My DS is in a class of under 50! Regarding the ACT, my DS (just started his Junior year) did ACT online prep through ACT. We were not sure if would be worth it, but he took his ACT for the first time...

    Submitting ACT scores

@TNElvis. We are in the same boat. Our DS (also a rising JR) just got his first ACT scores today. He was pretty happy and better then he expected for his first time. I was tickled pink and thought they look pretty dang good! He will retake them as well and hope to keep making gains. We did...

    New to the process

Very good advice. I just told DS last night he needs a good B, C and D plan. We have lots to learn... that is the only certainty at this point. @Love4monsters My son is also in a small class that has always been very close. He also has many good friends in the classes around his. I am so...

    New to the process

I am glad to hear about the college classes. Our DS has taken the hardest HS classes available usually a grade or 2 above where most of his classmates are. This will leave his schedule more open his Junior and Senior year for college courses. He is taking them online because the community...

    New to the process

Thanks for the advice! We actually have a neighbor down the road who is very active in American Legion. Hopefully we can talk to him about getting the ball rolling for Boys State next summer.

    New to the process

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I appreciate all the advice and encouragement. I think the nominations process, slates etc... is extremely confusing but we will figure it out as we go. DS is planning on reaching out to the local MOC and state senators this summer. We figured it is a good...
