    Golden Handshake

Wanted to circle back on here to finally put a period to the end of this roller coaster. DS went back to USNA after his month home (July 2022) and was required to live back in Bancroft--as a USNA graduate. After about 6 weeks, they allowed him to move into an apartment in Annapolis while...

Thank you! I will continue to post updates in case anyone else goes through this in the future.

    Golden Handshake

Update #2: DS was able to graduate on Friday with his classmates! He graduated but his commissioning status is still on hold. They have given him a month leave in hopes that better nutrition (not King Hall food) and Rx meds will help him. He will then go back to Annapolis in July to be...

Absolutely! There is nothing he wants more than to commission--it just may be out of his hands.

Update: DS met with his GI doc yesterday and was cleared of some conditions but they want more testing for others. He will meet with the head surgeon on Monday to talk about his commissioning/graduation status...so we continue to wait and pray.

Thank you all for your replies and support. He has been in touch with the Alumni Association about the Service Academy Career Conference that is taking place on May 5-6. Of course, one of those days he is having medical testing done and the other day he has an exam. He is still being...

Thank you Capt MJ- I was hoping you would respond. He is still unsure where his future lies as his medical issues are still not rectified...it is a work in progress. I can only pray that he is getting the best care possible. It is very difficult being so far away and only receiving limited...

    Golden Handshake

I have a Firstie who due to medical reasons, may not be able to Commission. We are still waiting to hear whether delayed graduation or golden handshake will be the end of his USNA journey. Is there anyone who has been through this? What does this mean for Commissioning Week events? Does he...

    USNA Service Assignment 2022

I know several that wanted Marines and were not chosen. I saw a graph of the Firstie's preferences for Service Selection and both the Pilot and Marine categories looked like there were not enough spots for all those who wanted those communities...unless I read the graph wrong...

    Countdown to SERVICE ASSIGNMENT

Right?? I actually got a Facetime from my DS (FIRST TIME EVER!) As soon as I saw that shaved head, I knew it was a good call! Oorah!

    Question about Plebe Summer

I've started a Bible in a year Challenge this year and I use an App on my phone. When you get your phones back after PS, that is something that might work better for you. You can read on the App or listen to a narrator and there are video devotions that coincide with the readings. When I don't...

    USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

Keep in mind that while it is nice, not all MOC's call their nominees to let them know they've been accepted. So, no call does not necessarily mean that a TWE is on the way. My 2022 DS received nothing from the MOC before or after the acceptance...other than the coveted nomination of course!

    Suspension from school

Echoing all of the sage advice above and adding a little personal reference. My now 2/C had a similar situation. He owned it, learned from it and used it to explain how he defended himself as he would defend his country. Don't know what your situation is (and don't put it here) but honesty is...

Return for the Class of 2023...?

My DS was very upset about having to miss PROTRAMID this summer but understands that is the life of uncertainty that he is signing up for. Hopefully they will be able to sign their 2 for 7's as soon as they are all back on The Yard.
