    Academy Eligiblity

"You can't be past your 23rd birthday before July 1 of the year you enter the Academy." If you apply next year, you'll be 22 and your entering year would be 2019. In 2019 you turn 23 in February, i.e. you miss the cutoff. The prep school's age requirement is 22. Moreover, "the age requirement is...

    Admissions Interaction?

My experience with USAFA has been mixed. Occasionally, I receive emails from a 2nd Lt. offering to answer any questions I might have about the academy. Moreover, I can email or call my admissions counsellor when I have questions about my app. But beyond that, my interaction with USAFA has been...

How often are ACT/SAT scores updated on the portal?

Well either way it's a waiting a game; it will take some time for USAFA to update the portal. They're probably dealing with an influx of score reports.

Qualified on DoDMERB but not USAFA website

Mine took a day to update, so you're right to be worried. It may be a clerical issue, so fax or email the letter to your counsellor/responsible party to cover all your bases. The status letter is your golden ticket. Good luck.

How often are ACT/SAT scores updated on the portal?

I was told by the ACT service that scores aren't sent electronically, but by certified mail on a CD. It's pretty old school. USAFA receives score reports about twice a month. After the scores are received they have to process it and upload it to the applicants portal. In my experience, it takes...

    ACT/SAT SCORES

I am taking the ACT for the third time next month. My previous scores are reasonable, but I am lacking in the English section. Hopefully, more practice will improve my score significantly. Wish me luck.

Will I have to retake the CFA? Would the academy ever request a retake after your deadline?

You are in track or cross country. If you didn't pass, then they'll ask you to retake it. If you don't hear anything in a few weeks, then assume your scores were acceptable.

Unless a medical professional confirmed xyz, then don't mention xyz. DODMERB is meant to disqualify candidates, don't enable them in impeding you.

    Clarification

IMHO, an AU-ABC programs will accept any CCAF degree. CCAF is mostly general education courses and is regionally accredit, so most institutions will accept your credits. Whether you take 5/6 Dental degree track or go straight for B/S, you will be in good shape. At some point, you will have to...

    Clarification

I concur. You don't need AFROTC for HPSP. If you have your CCAF, you can enroll in an AU-ABC program, get your BS in two years (GI Bill or MilTA could cover expenses). Once you have your BS apply to HPSP. Talk to your education counsellor on base--they have great advice. From an Airman to an...

    DoDMERB results?

It took two (2) weeks after my exam before my paper work reached DODMERB. Shortly after (3 days), DODMERB reviewed my paperwork and requested remedial information, but they also updated the SA on the status of my application. The SA asked for a body fat test (passed) and to send a picture of my...

    USASA weight standards

The USAFA is several thousand feet above sea level. At that altitude, exhaustion and altitude sickness is a worry for cadets when they arrive in the summer. It takes awhile to get acclimated to the environment, and it helps if your in shape. The stringent standards are to ensure a smooth...

USNA professor publishes article railing against SAs

Honestly, I read the article from the standpoint of an AD enlisted member. In the military, you deal with BS everywhere. If you can graduate from an SA, then you can probably make it on active duty. However, I do think there are some fundamental issues that need to be addressed. For example...
