I have looked into both hpsp and usuhs. I understand that I will have a 4 year AD commitment with 4 years IRR. HPSP would add 4 years onto AD.

I would finish undergrad at 22, med school at 26, then residency at 29 at the earliest. The service commitment doesn't begin until residency is completed.

Thank you, I'm glad I can still offer some insight into the academy. It's an absolutely incredible place, but not for everyone.

I'm currently doing AROTC at my college. I absolutely love my rotc unit. We have awesome cadre and the balance between military duties and being a normal college student is amazing. The plan now is HPSP for med school.

I agree, and unfortunately I wasn't being rational with myself last summer. Which is why I suggest that all new cadets at least finish beast and then reevaluate any thoughts of out processing.

As far as the watches go, I purchased an Ironman classic. Has the alarm function and was 35 bucks on Amazon. I plan on using my Garmin during during the academic year, so for me there was no reason to spend a lot on a basic watch.

Does anyone know if we are allowed to bring our own iPad to Usma? If so are there only certain models they allow? My laptop broke and since I’ll be issued a laptop as a cadet, it wouldn’t be reasonable to purchase a new one, but buying an iPad that can be used would make sense.

What are the typical activities that cadets do on Friday nights and weekends? Maybe some current or former cadets would be able to answer this. Also how might these activities differ for say a plebe vs a Firstie?

I found the Garmonts on this website: https://uspatriottactical.com/garmont-t8-bifida-boots-coyote-t8-498/ It doesn't specify that they are Bifida II but it says they are "AR670-1 compliant for US Army wear with multicam and OCP." Seems like they should be fine.

This is slightly off topic, but does anyone know what the restrictions on cadets are for A-day? If a cadet lives relatively close to USMA (~20 miles), would he be able to go back home for the day and return at night? What time do cadets generally need to be back by on that day?
