    New Student Indoctrination (Summer 2019)

I am assuming this is a fellow KP’er. I totally agree that these first couple of rounds will be challenging for those who have not run an Indoc style program. As someone still serving and having worked with some of the folks and NETC and NROTC the past couple of years - I will say that holding...

    New Student Indoctrination (Summer 2019)

The Point USMCGrunt was ultimately trying to make is that it really doesn't matter how much information you have in advance... or if you get the book to memorize the answers - because the mental and physical stress will still be applied. Ultimately - trying to "prep" your son or daughter in...

    New Student Indoctrination (Summer 2019)

I am excited that the NROTC program has finally developed this initiative! The value of going through an indoctrination process to weed-out those who are not mentally tough enough cannot be overstated. The Service Academies and Senior Military Colleges all have similar processes - and this...

USNA Class of 2023 Do-It-Yourself Appointment Thread

Anonymity and privacy are overrated [emoji23]. As a Navy officer the Chinese already got my info from OPM anyway. [emoji15]

Still CPR anyone in the same boat?

DS is also NROTC at TAMU. Planning on Aerospace Engineering - after getting through his first year of lock-step engineering study. Good luck - and I am sure they will meet soon!

Still CPR anyone in the same boat?

Hearing multiple people with turn downs today. Looks like the ax is falling hard. Sorry all / just remember that this is only a small speed bump in the path to a wonderful future.

Chester Midshipmouse-- Chapter Book For MidSibs

One of the best fiction books on Academy life in general is The Return Of Philo T McGiffin by David Poyer. A USNA grad, Poyer has also written many navy fiction books as well. I highly recommend his stuff. https://m.usni.org/store/books/bluejacket-books/return-philo-t-mcgiffin

    Rejection from USNA 2022

There is always being trained on how to be a "torpedo sponge" at USMMA! We are in the process of working with the US Navy on how to not hit ships with ships...only with missiles!

    Still hope?

Already on it! I just need to let him wallow in self pity for a few hours then kick him in the @ss and move forward.

    Still hope?

I hear you! The challenge is being able to look at things Without the emotion. His dream has been to serve in the Navy and graduate from USNA - and now a part of that dream has been shattered. The end game is still in play - and with incredibly awesome paths before him. But it has to be his...

    Still hope?

DS also into A&M. His scholarship award was to Stanford who hasn’t replied yet. So now the risk is getting his scholarship transferred if Stanford turns him down. But he also has USMMA so he will have hard decision to make. Good luck to your DD!!

    Still hope?

Same here. TX. Got TWE email and update today. DS is upset - but plans B and C are still awfully good plans (USMMA Appointment and NROTC 4-year award) so I hope he eventually can realize that this is only a speed bump on the way to serving. But at 18 that’s hard when your dream was USNA. It’s a...

    Wisdom teeth

Just a comment to add that while you can certainly wait to have them removed later.... the Academies tend to be less generous with recovery time. Lots of running and push-ups only a few days following this surgery, while medically allowed, still doesn't feel particularly well. My son had his...

Class of 2022 DIY USNA Appointment Thread

By previous estimates - between 600-800 people receive Presidential Noms due to their parents. Of those - only 100 can be charged to the Presidential noms - but who knows who was charged to what Nom? We will never know. But this is not my point...my point is that a member of the USNA team who...

Class of 2022 DIY USNA Appointment Thread

If they had an LOA and get a Pres Nom submitted then they get an Appointment. I would also add that many times candidates on this forum get additional NOMs as time passes and don’t update this list. The non LOA - slate competition - at least according to the USNA team - happens after MOC slates...
