Humor for my Navy and Marine friends

True story: I once was at the grocery store and was buying four (4) 1/2 gallons of milk which were on sale for $1.00 each. The gallons were $3.49 each so it was a good deal. I had just put them in my cart, when this gal reaches in and gets the same stuff in gallons. She too, chooses 2 gallons...

Humor for my Navy and Marine friends

I am a fan of a particular store brand of tater tots. The 32 ounce bag is $4.99 and I always buy 2 bags. Why not just one 64 ounce bag, you may ask? Because the 64 ounce bag is $11.99. Crazy!

Flight School wait steady at 2 years

For the old pilots (like me) out there, they fly the much safer T-6 Texan II (Beech) now. It is not to be confused with the North American T-6 Texan tail-dragger of yore, responsible for so many student ground loops. :p

You could get him a good quality replica M-1 Garand. Put "Denix WWII M1 Garand .30 Caliber Replica Rifle" in the search bar. One can be had from "replicaweaponry" for about $200. Suitable for hanging on the wall or just futzing around with. If he has a car, you could alternately get him a Jerry...

    Dad Joke thread (everybody welcome)

A tractor-trailer rig carrying a full trailer of Vick's VapoRub crashed on the highway at rush hour today, spilling it's contents all over the place. Thankfully, no one was hurt and it did end up clearing a lot of congestion along the highway.

Received and offer of Foundation and have questions?

I had friends in High School too. I left town when I was 18 and never looked back. Coming up on 48 years and I can't tell you a single name, but the people I served with I will never forget and I have a friend in every single person I meet who has served. That's a fact.

Received and offer of Foundation and have questions?

I am a child of the 60's so I have some wisdom to impart. Embrace change. Here is your chance. You worked hard and you earned a spot. Don't squander it. Keep working hard and you will succeed and make lifelong friends along the way. I am excited for you. Go and get it.

USNA- appointed class 2028 BFE received?

I never considered that the photos I have seen in the past where somebody proudly displays BFEs from USMA, USNA, USAFA, USCGA, and USMMA were because they accepted the offers to all five. That indeed is a jerk move, if that was the case. I would only hope that if anyone did that, then their...

    Loosing Hope 😔

I was a 90-day wonder and it worked out for me. I got to fly on the government's dime and learned a lot of good life lessons along the way. USNA is not the beat-all end-all of existence as @Devil Doc implies. If what you really want to be is an officer, there are a few different ways to get there.

    Thankful for the forums...

I can tell you as a parent of a ground-bound Teufel Hunden (USNA class of '22) it really was fun and exciting watching him go though the Academy and forge lifelong friendships along the way. I hope you get to visit there and take some MIDNs out to dinner and get to know them. When I say it's...

Any coffee made with a plunge-pot is good. It has the oils in it that are sadly filtered out by icky paper filters. Yeah, I used "icky" in a sentence. Come at me! :D

    Coffee thread

That coffee is way too foo-foo for me. Give me dark roast or espresso every day of the week, with nothing in it. I am drinking a quad-shot of Cafe Bustelo espresso right now. :p I am sort of a diva when it comes to coffee. I have a Bravilor Bonimat Sego 12. It grinds the beans for every cup.

https://www.usna.edu/CVW/ Basically, you get there Thursday and check in around 5PM. There is an orientation and then you are paired up with the Plebe assigned to take you around as a guest (AKA: "drag") to their classes, extracurriculars, etc. You will have the opportunity to dine in King Hall...
