    Ocs letters of recommendation?

Thanks for the replies - I haven’t spoken with my OSO yet but I’ve read that LOR are needed. Unfortunately it’s been awhile since college and I have been at the same job for a while, so I don’t have many many sources from which to collect LORs. That’s why it would be great if I could use some...

    Ocs letters of recommendation?

I will hopefully be speaking with an ocs OSO soon, but I want to have everything ready beforehand, hence this post. I have a few LOR from past professors/employers - the problem is, they are not specifically addressed to the Marine Corps, just recommendations for me to attend grad schools, or...

    Basic camp vs bct

One more question - if I wanted to go into the guard, do I have to do the 16 month OCS (if I go the OCS route) or can I do the 8 or 14 week? Thanks!

    Basic camp vs bct

Hello, If one has a BA and goes to basic camp with the intent of doing ROTC for grad school, but afterwards decides to not pursue grad school and apply for ocs instead, would they have to still attend BCT before OCS, or would basic camp suffice for that requirement? Thanks!

    ROTC tuition waiver w/out commission?

Hey all, I’ve read on many ROTC university websites, and been told by an ROTC recruiter, that public colleges/universities offer a tuition waiver to rotc cadets, regardless of whether or not they plan to commission through ROTC. The only stipulation seems to be if the cadet passes the pft and...

    SMP, GRF requirements and benefits

Thanks for your help. Sorry that I’m not totally understanding...I actually want to go guard. And I would like a 2 year scholarship beginning next fall...I’d like SMP also if possible to make more money as well learn more about the army before commissioning. With this in mind, what steps should...

    SMP, GRF requirements and benefits

Thanks - I’m hoping to go for grad school actually. Do you know if the same process applies for a 2 year scholarship - specifically guaranteed reserve forces and/or SMP?

    SMP, GRF requirements and benefits

Thanks - but it does say that some people receive a scholarship before they’re sophomore year though, and I’ve known people who have had a 4 year scholarship. So it seems that it’s possible to receive a scholarship before doing any ROTC at all?

    SMP, GRF requirements and benefits

Hello, 1. I’m thinking about doing ROTC, and am confused about SMP. It seems as if going to BCT is not a necessary prerequisite, although recommended. Why should I do BCT, and possibly AIT, if it’s not necessary? If I just have a 2 year scholarship, wouldn’t basic camp take the place of BCT...

Air Force vs army ROTC learning outcomes?

Thanks for the reply. I guess since I’m only familiar with leadership or ROTC as learning about being a fire team leader, I have no idea what Air Force ROTC could look like... especially since I’m interested in being a security forces officer, I’m worried that I would learn more about airspace...

Air Force vs army ROTC learning outcomes?

Thanks for the reply - that’s helpful! What kinds of things did you learn about in your classes and LLAB? Do you feel that what you learned about was Air Force specific, or military in general? Did you mostly learn about airplane/airspace related issues, or did you also learn about broader...

Air Force vs army ROTC learning outcomes?

I’m leaning towards security forces and military police, and I know that each branch is very similar in this regard. I like both branches, so it really does come down to which ROTC program I would like to spend the next 3 years of my life in! I want to know which will prepare me more as a...

Air Force vs army ROTC learning outcomes?

I want to do either army or Air Force ROTC. I know people say army ROTC has a huge emphasis on leadership, as well as squad tactics and being in the field. What is Air Force ROTC like? How much does it focus on developing leadership? What are the classes and LLABS like, especially as contrasted...

    Commissioning into the reserves

Hello, I know that the Army has a guaranteed reserve forces scholarship - I’m pretty sure NROTC does not, but uncertain as to whether or not AFROTc does. I’ve heard that it’s possible. Someone told me that if you have an agreement with a reserve unit, you can commission into the AF reserves...

    JAG questions

hey - I am going to law school hopefully soon, and would like to go into JAG corps at some point. I’d like to commission into a different branch first, and then transition to JAG reserves later in my career. Is it possible in any of the branches to go straight into the JAG reserve corps...

    CRO vision waiver?

Hi all, I know it’s very competitive, but am hoping to branch into one of the AF special ops officer careers, preferably combat rescue officer. My health is great aside from my vision. My vision is not good - I believe 20/300 and 20/500 - however, it is correctable to pretty nearly 20/20 in...

    Rotc and masters in education?

hey guys, Has anyone ever done a two year rotc scholarship with a Masters of Arts in teaching? I have heard some in the army say that it’s definitely possible, but I have also heard people (not in the army) say it’s not. I’m curious if anyone has done this or knows someone who has. Thanks!

    Units stationed?

This is a question that has always bothered me: if one looks at a military base overseas, like camp Zama for example, the units that are stationed there are listed. It will say 1st intelligence battalion or 1st infantry division or something (examples). Yet units rotate out every year or so...

    Civilian military lawyer

I know that you can work for the military as a civilian, and being a lawyer is one of those career paths. I think for navy it’s called office of general counsel, and their website seems to say that they hire recent grads.
