    Sunday’s during Basic Cadet Training

They used to do it differently, but now Sundays are more like a day to reflect with minimal cadre presence rather than an actual BCT day. It also gives the basics time to function on their own as normal adults and get to know the people in their flight. We stole it from enlisted basic.

    Sports During BCT

Many sports are very wary of accepting walk-ons, but you can try during basic. I know for swim my year they didn't accept any walk-ons.

    Ask a Doolie Anything

Yeah I did, I got into Norwich and my flagship state school. I chose USAFA for a lot of reasons but the main one is it's a great place to be from. Also, free college, almost guaranteed pilot slot, language and travel opportunities, networking and leadership opportunities as well.

    Ask a Doolie Anything

Not to hijack this thread but reply to this if you want an upperclassmen perspective. I'm currently a junior.

    Bad Moderation

Disclaimer: I am not a cadet. I have not personally experienced most of the things that take place at the academy. Throwaway4124, I agree with you. I think it is not only beneficial, but necessary for aspiring cadets to see the good and the not so good parts of USAFA so they can make an...

    JROTC Summer

From what I know, (being in JROTC and CAP), CAP members cannot join the JROTC summer flying program. The flight program candidacy process is a very long one with many tests and a lot of things to learn during the school year. Only a small percentage of JROTC cadets got in this year (one person...

    Any questions for a freshman?

Should you validate classes that pertain to your major, or take them again to relearn them at the college level?

No LOA, No Nomination ... End of the process?

Even after you get the TWE you can be appointed. A current cadet 4th class that I know was rejected in April and received a very exciting phone call from her MOC in May. It isn't over until the start of BCT.

What can an 8th grader do to prepare for high school USAFA application

Civil Air Patrol and Boy/Girl Scouts are great! Also, remember to keep yourself physically fit now so you don't have to do it later.

    Evaluator on Application

Basically, that Evaluator is the ALO who will conduct your interview/evaluation for USAFA. I would suggest reaching out to them before they reach out to you.

    Alternatives to Summer Seminar

I don't know how other states do it, but the NJ Boys State had multiple military seminars, retreat ceremonies, PT, and a very noticable overall military presence throughout the week. The Army Honor Guard Drill Team even came to perform on the last day. It's not a summer seminar one will be able...

How to Maximize Chances of being accepted to USAFA

It's easier to get a pilot slot from USAFA, but where you should go depends if you want the traditional college experience or not. Keep your grades up either way, they are extremely important.

May I ask what your stats are?

    USAFA Summer Seminar

"11. Being in JrROTC, CAP, Scouts, etc. doesn't prepare you any more for the academy/military, than does band, sports, 4H, etc." I disagree. JROTC and Civil Air Patrol will set you up with basic knowledge about military life, drill, customs and courtesies, and discipline. You can't really...

    CRO vision waiver?

If you get appointed into the Academy, they will give you any corrective eye treatment that you need when it is called for. Just DONT DO IT YOURSELF.
