I wonder if prep appointments will still go out until then like appointments to USAFA?

When do preppies report?

Plan B shifted to Plan A already since he didn’t receive an appointment to USAFA. We actually paid the deposit to VMI in February. It’s ok if we can’t get it back. Just a drop in the bucket if it means being awarded a scholarship ;)

By what date should all prep school appointments be made? Any idea based on previous years? Plan B is already Plan A and deposit has been paid as we have already shifted gears, but still curious if the prep school route could be a slim hope.

Are prep school appointees chosen solely based on their file, or is it similar to direct appointments where there is a variety of cadets from across the US?

His TWE stated only no appointment to USAFA. His liaison officer said if it does not say no for falcon scholarship or prep school, then he is still in the running for those.

What did everyone’s portal letter say? I have heard some simply say no appointment awarded, while others said no appointment, no prep school, no falcon foundation scholarship. What is everyone’s take on that?

True. I didn’t consider overlap. It is reasonable to say that about half of those qualified and receiving nominations, last year, were offered appointments. How tough for those still waiting to hear! :(

I am thinking there were more than that who received nominations. There are 535 MOC and other nominating sources as well. If each MOC has one spot to fill, (and ten nominations can be made for each spot) that is 5,350 nominations without any other nominating sources.

We live in Oklahoma. But DD runs track, his times are good enough to try for a walk-on position with the team, and he has been in contact with the coach. Once you are on the team, you can apply for scholarships even if you weren’t recruited with one.

Yes yes! Mine is still sitting at candidate status as well. I would love to fast forward and see a change in his portal. We have already paid the deposit for Plan B and gladly not receive it back if it means my DS gets appointed. ;)

Anyone know if VMI gives any kind of “breaks” for ROTC students? Some colleges will cover room & board or one of those, some will also cover books/supplies, and others will even offer an additional scholarship towards the academic cost. I am going to call Monday, but thought I would check here...
