    USMMAAA Eviction

Exactly Luigi Exactly Luigi...... The USMMAAAF does a tremendous amount of good for Kings Point so yes it would only make sense to have them pay $1.7M/year for space and not give the $ to KP for the benefit and support of the academy and of the M/N. Did I hear someone say moronic...

    USMMAAA Eviction

Just another example of the inmates running the asylum. Admiral Helis has decided to evict the USMMAAAF from campus regardless of all the good they have done for over 60 years at the Academy for the benefit of the midshipmen effective April 30th. This guy doesn't get it, nor does he belong at...

LET 2013 RING!!!!! KP Parents, Alumni and All Concerned Please Read

It will be a tremendous disappointment to see one of the few great traditions at KP tossed by the wayside because you have 2 people in key leadership positions with absolutely no connection to USMMA other than it's another job for them. Let the bell ringing go on as it has in the past without...

    Sequestration

There may be furloughs for those considered non-essential personnel. Hopefully this will not occur since KP works with very limited staff in comparison to the other academies however if there are issues, these folks will be the first to experience the furloughs.

What makes the 1 class year difficult?

Changes Back in the day everyone left campus in some form of uniform for liberty... Even 1st classmen could only leave in an academy issued blazer and slacks/skirts. Given budget issues today not likely any mids will be issued any uniforms other than the basics.

Pertinence of being a certified private pilot to admissions

NAVY 1987 -- It's a good thing USNA doesn't exist solely to produce ship drivers since they had mids bring 4 YP's to visit KP earlier this month, showed up without any charts on board and grounded 2 of them off Steppingstone Light outside the basin. Yeah- need some work in the ship driving...

    New USMMA Superintendent Announcement

Actually incest was picked up from a post that was removed...... whatever you want to call it, having someone that knows the industry would have been preferable. Time will tell.

    New USMMA Superintendent Announcement

While incest may not be necessary for progress, having someone aboard to lead that has some industry experience, knowledge and understanding would be requisite in most circles. Optimally someone that has achieved flag officer rank and graduated from KP would be ideal. Wait- we just had someone...

    Capital Improvements

Rumor has it mids were told that nothing will occur until KP has all of its admin issues in order...difficult to do when MARAD has the reins. Hopefully this is rumor but no obvious signs of work yet.

    A Call to Action

Concerned Alum- In answer to you comments about online handle- absolutely no reference at all to Kappa Pi Sigma, as it is known, not Kappa Phi Sigma. Purely a mathematical reference. Perhaps we were both there. Problems today - yes. Honor Board proceedings have been overturned in the...

    A Call to Action

ConcernedAlumni- You are phenomenal at quoting statistics, but I have some questions concerning your relationship with the author of the letter as well as your close ties to the ’78 graduates based on your comments. “I know that first class of women very well in fact. A lot better than...

    A Call to Action

ConcernedAlumni- Get your facts straight. The first class of women entered in July 1974 and those that lasted graduated in June 1978; a full four years after their entrance. If they entered in 1975 as you indicated, they would have been the first class to ever finish in 3 years regardless of...

    Superintendent, USMMA

Did I miss familiarity with the Maritime industry, flag officer rank, strong industry contacts, Academy graduate? What are they thinking? Or is this just a ruse to put another puppet in place to do the bidding of the incompetent players at MARAD? Given the recent history, who in their right...

    CO Leak

Regarding donors- perhaps you should look at class size. Both USNA and USMA admit and enroll about 4 times as many students as USMMA. USNA admitted about 1200 in the class of 2015 and USMA about 1400. Not everyone makes it through to graduation but USMMA takes in on average 300 students per...

    New Commandant?

Do some research on the license pass rates. The state schools may not be producing licensed engineers, in fact they may not be producing licensed personnel based on the pass rate for the license exams. Take a look at the pass rates for all the state schools and compare that to Kings Point...

    CO Leak

Well said- Jasperdog. Thank you. And yes while these issues may be long standing, we do have a Maritime Administrator, incompetent as he may be, that is aware of the issues and responsible to see that things are remedied and improved. I'm with you, the MARAD legal eagles need to get out of...

LaHood has announced his resignation effective the end of the first term however, not sure about Matsuda but his departure can't come soon enough.
