    Clerical Error

So I was given a disqualifying eye exam by a doctor saying my vision is too bad for the US Army in February. Then I go to about 12 other eye doctors to verify that my vision is in fact well within regulations. And to add a bit of insult to injury, when I go for an ROTC eye exam to the doctor...

    Medical deadline

Well... RC informed me now I need to wait for someone to get hurt. He was very sorry about the fact that the waiver wait is why I wasn't attending, but there is hope. I'm already a junior in ROTC so I should just be happy with that.

I just feel it's a bit too late.but maybe there is a prior service slot available and I have hope. My RC told me to call him again tomorrow.

Guess who just got his waiver today! Me! I really have no idea whether to be happy or hope someone gets hurt.

I talked to him today. I'm his top spot if anyone gives up their slot. But other than that no. Basically if I had been 3 Q'd I'd have been in, but requesting a waiver took way too long.

April: and you are still waiting...

@2022USMAHopefuldad Portal is back up. Still no update though...

    Medical deadline

The problem is my RC said I'm definitely still in the running. Do you think I just haven't been notified of a decision or he would just rather wait for official correspondence to break the news to me? He has emailed me and verbally told me that I have not been told no yet.

April: and you are still waiting...

So my RC Tech just said I've been queued Academically, but there is no real date that I can expect the waiver authority to do anything. So just wait until that clears up. I just hope this deadline isn't May 1st like everyone says.

April: and you are still waiting...

I'm still on requested waiver on my candidate portal. Should I contact anyone beside my RC?

No, my regional commander explained that the review board will answer well before 90 days. You should expect an answer before the end of the month.

I verified with the medical review board today. I am now confident in my answer. If all remedial information was submitted then you are still being considered. If you haven't provided a response to this then it is over for this year.

So I'm getting conflicting information here. My Regional Commander said that if I hadn't responded to the remedial by the 15th I'm out. But if I had submitted everything they asked for, I will still be considered.

How long does it typically take for DODMERB to find someone to perform a remedial?

I was able to handle mine on base one day after the request came in, but I was already on the installation.

How long does it typically take for DODMERB to find someone to perform a remedial?

Well it takes 5 business days for DoDMETS to get the orders to schdule you an exam. If you find your own and pay for it you can save that time. But you can also take the correspondence to a MTF on an installation to get it taken care of asap.

Can I contact any ophthalmologist or will DoDMERB tell me who to go see?

The problem is, I've looked at the paperwork and he hasn't noted anything other than a reccomendation to see a retina specialist for further testing.

Can I contact any ophthalmologist or will DoDMERB tell me who to go see?

I have a small hole in my right eye that he recommended that a retina specialist patch up while I'm on active duty orders.

Can I contact any ophthalmologist or will DoDMERB tell me who to go see?

I'm also still scared about timing even though I handled the remedial the day after they gave me the ami request.

Can I contact any ophthalmologist or will DoDMERB tell me who to go see?

Yeah, but then he immediately followed up with its up to them to give me a waiver. And there is a much higher risk of me getting a retinal detachment then an average soldier. It's pretty unnerving.

Can I contact any ophthalmologist or will DoDMERB tell me who to go see?

Well I'm scared. I don't know what the charts mean. I don't mind sharing them with everyone here if they want to see, but I'm pretty uncertain. They said surgery wasn't a bad idea, but that's a no go for usma.
