    Letter of Assurance!!

Last year my daughter received an LOA in November. She had to jump through some hoops in regards to being medically cleared. The LOA kept her focused that she would get in if she navigated the DODMERB process. She cleared DODMERB in February and was admitted.

    Under Medical Waiver Review

I would check the DODMERB website. There might be a PDF of letters that tell you the next steps for a waiver or a need for more information. We had an issue with our DODMERB coordinator, she was on a leave and her caseload had been forwarded to another liaison. My DD made a phone call and got...

If I get accepted Early Decision for another college do I have to withdraw my USNA application?

Thanks! We are done with the experience for my second daughter but I still check the forum occasionally. I have a son who I believe might be interested in this path as well. Thanks to all the moderators that support the forum.

If I get accepted Early Decision for another college do I have to withdraw my USNA application?

Did you read the description of ED? Also did your HS counselor not make the situation clear? My DD did single choice early action to Princeton. It is non binding but did not allow her to apply to any other private universities early action. You have violated the college board rules. I would...

    Visit to The USNA

When we visited there was an option before/after the public tour to go to an info session about USNA application process and other school info. It was informative and worth scheduling your tour around if possible.

    Only applying to one Academy

My D only applied to USNA. It was not a problem when getting noms at all. Her reason was the academics, location and ideas of USNA spoke to her more than other service academies. She did get in. Best of luck to your friend.

Waiters ....this thread is for you

My DD is from a public school and got into USNA. We also know of a girl in our area that was accepted and goes to a private school. I don’t think it is public/private school situation at all. So sorry for your son!

USNA Class of 2023 Do-It-Yourself Appointment Thread

She did end up at Princeton. Pushed the button last night. She did receive the NROTC scholarship but has decided to move forward without the commitment NROTC requires. If she wants to serve after undergrad she plans to move forward with the OTP. I have been so grateful for the council and...

    Getting Close

Hi- Below I have attached a wonderful threads that we used for my DD before her visit. I did send brownies and snacks that made her host and friends very happy:) Have fun! About a month ago I was fortunate enough to attend a CVW at the Naval academy. It was such an amazing experience, and it...

Waiters ....this thread is for you

See below original post. For my DD we are unsure of plan A, B and C. While Naval is in the mix so is NROTC (we were “waiting”) and also “waiting” for many others. “”””We need to pass the time somehow. Let’s be positive! Anybody want to say what colleges that have been accepted to so we can see...

Waiters ....this thread is for you

I am actually surprised at the negative turn this post has taken. I took the "waiter...this thread is for you" topic to mean all high school seniors and/or their parents that were "waiting" for many things, DODMERB clearance, other college acceptances, and of course USNA. I thought it was a...

    Title IX

As a former D1 athlete I didn't believe that USNA could be exempt from Title . So I googled it. Shockingly they are Schools training individuals for military services or merchant marine (completely exempt) Title IX does not apply to an educational institution the primary purpose or which is...

If DS is waiting for medical waiver will he still hear something by the 15th?

I would contact DODMERB directly. There is a liaison that is assigned to you based on your last name. My daughter called and got her liaison's direct line. She contacted her to make sure her AMI's were received. She assured us they had been and would process in a week or 2. It was done in 5...

    Navy ROTC

DD is in at naval but undecided. She did get about NROTC scholarship way back in November but hasn't been medically cleared. I might reach out. After her waiver was granted at USNA we assumed it was just a matter of time before she got the waiver from NROTC. After 2 additional weeks she...

    Considering voluntarily separating

Unrelated in some ways but food for thought.- I was a varsity athlete at a D1 school, not a SA. It was a lot. I struggled my senior year as my course load was tough and the demands of my sport were a lot. I stayed and I finished both college and my season. I needed too. My team counted on...

    Rates for Summer Seminar

My DD was at NASS last summer. Our family has no military background so she had no idea what to expect. She enjoyed the challenge of the memorization. Some items were expected to be remembered throughout the week. Some new items given in the evenings and expected to be parroted the next...

Waiters ....this thread is for you

I hear you both. DD is more interested in poli-sci and international relations. That being said they are 18 and things change.
