    USNA Email on Smartphones?

Yes, if there is anyway you can arrange to have your mid a smart phone it is the way to go. They can set us their mid email to be forwarded to their personal email address. The personal email address is what is set up on their smart phone. A real time saver when you get hundreds of emails a...

    Misdemeanor Trouble

My son received a ticket for not wearing his seat belt, right in front of our house. I was advised to notify admissions immediately, and had to provide copies of the ticket. I was told it was better to be up front with them, I think having them find out (and they will) and have to ask you...

Things I wish I had know before I-Day/PS

Great advise! Also for you parents out there...enjoy every minute of having your kid at home. Do not wish away these last few months until I Day. Hang onto them, spend time with your kid. You will miss them so much you can't even comprehend it, but at the same time you will be so proud of...

    Do parents go to CVW?

I agree, we also met other parents there and have kept in touch. Don't worry, spending time with your kid during the CVW...this is not an option. They are wisked away, and barely will give you a nod if they pass by you with their assigned plebe. There are plenty of things arranged for the...

    Do parents go to CVW?

I say go. I had major reservations on whether this was the right decision for my son. After going to the parent sessions, seeing the beautiful campus (pictures do not do it justice), watching noon meal formation......and seeing my son's excitement...changed this mom's heart about the whole...

    Mid out to dinner

Not sure if you can do dinner after the game. My son is a plebe, and can only leave the yard if he has liberty. Maybe a more experienced parent can answer that. However, there are many good places to eat right outside the gate. You could always pick something up, and eat it on the yard...

Letter of Recommendation from a Vice Admiral

It never hurts to do everything you possibly can do, if you want it bad enough. So, I say, YES mail it in!! Good luck!:thumb:

    SubAgency: NALOA . . .

Be careful what you post about seeing your status change on the Dodmerb page. Last year after so many had posted about it, they stopped letting you see the page if an appointment or loa was being offered. Luckily it was after I had seen my son's status change to appointment offered. I...

    Is This a Good Sign

Actually they offer the mids an extra day or two off from the Academy to visit their high school, and sometimes a function hosted by the BGO. It is a great way to speak to someone first hand, and have your questions answered by someone face to face. It is a great opportunity, please take...

Also remember that the Plebe you are assigned to will fill out a questionaire on you, so be respectful even behind closed doors.

    CVW

The 5 mile run was limited to the company of the plebe that he was assigned to. He actually enjoyed it, and said it felt good to know you could hang with the rest. Other parents whose kids were with other companies had different experiences. Just depends on where you are assigned. As for...

Also make sure you bring clothes for PT...shorts, running shoes, etc. My son had to do a five mile run on Friday morning. Probably the highlight of the weekend to say he survived it! Enjoy, they have lots of things going on for the parents, tours, etc.

    Medical Exam on I-Day

My son was held up for hours by exam due to heart murmor that had been cleared by Dodmerb exam, and also had back up documentation from cardiologist that he was 100 percent, and no heart murmor present. They can do what ever they want, just want to make sure everyone is healthy and ready for...

I've been looking at airfare, and wondering if I book something that flys out at 8pm on the 22nd of December, I would be safe in my mid being done with all yard obligations. Any input appreciated?

    Letter of recommendation

We were told by our BGO to submit 3 letters of recommendation. He said to choose your people carefully to write them. He advised to have someone who really knows you and your family, as opposed to having someone write a general letter. Helps put a little personality in your package. We asked...
