    LEAD Program C/O 2023 Thread

Hey it’s really important I caution you on this. During the prep school year you’ll accrue 25 days of leave. HOWEVER, that leave is already budgeted in accordance with regular school breaks. Additionally, between prep school graduation and I day for the actual academy there are 37 days. So...

Hey man, your **** looks pretty good. Even by academy standards. Sometimes people get ****ed and are sent to the prep school. But let me give you some advice as someone who just graduated the prep. There were a few others like you who didn’t academically need to go. BUT, you can make it...

I just graduated the prep, I’ll be attending with you. I highly suggest a good exercise routine and possibly studying some basic chem/calculus if your going direct. It could be very challenging if your not at least somewhat spun up on these things!

There was like a two and a half day break between basic training ending and classes beginning. Most of that time is spent with briefs and doing your best to catch up on the homework thats due at class. A lot of it is online homework that'll make you feel the same way you do when your doing a CBT...

That depends on so many more factors then I can answer honestly. I wasn't an MPS troop so I don't know exactly how their system works or whatever. All I can say is that I got my acceptance on the 17th, and I got my orders about a week later. I don't know if it helped, but I personally walked...

This is a note for anyone who happens to be watching down here. If you get accepted to the prep, make sure to HAVE LEAVE SAVED UP. During your 10 month stay at the prep, you'll accrue 25 days of leave. However, that leave is already budgeted out for the various school breaks you'll have. But...

So you don't "separate" until you go to the actual academy. Going to the prep-school is actually a PCS. So you should get PCS orders Colorado springs pretty soon. The name of the base is actually "united states air force academy" so yeah.... if you got accepted to the prep I recommend heckling...

I'm currently at the prep. When I applied my application looked like this: 2.52 HS GPA 1250 SAT CCAF Below average on every element of the CFA. (literally gave me a "fat waiver") I considered myself pretty close to the bottom of the barrel. That being said, its gonna be different every year...

The way it (allegedly) works is they have a board that meets twice a month starting late feb/early march. Each application will get reviewed until they hit some arbitrary quota for the day. If yours was reviewed but declined in lets say.... the early march board, it gets put back into the stack...

It’s a little late for me to say this now, but I consistently called my councilor and if she wasn’t there to answer I’d call another regions councilor. Most of the ones I called were always really nice and helpful. Though you could tell when they were using the scripted responses to answer...

This is possible through the LEAD program yes. I'm speaking specifically from the perspective of someone who applied through the LEAD program and is currently attending the preparatory school. Even though I already submitted an application last year, they are still asking us to get congressional...

hey there, I'm currently at the prep. We DO have to get a congressman nomination even though we applied through the LEAD program. From my understanding they do have alternate options for those who do not get one. The bottom line is that if you do well at the prep, get above a 2.5 GPA and above...

It depends on what you mean by "effect". If you mean that your job is critically manned then no, I don't think the academy itself takes into account manning. Generally speaking, all the commissioning programs take priority over manning issues. That being said. The LEAD program specifically...

I dont want to be "that guy" but the odds aren't good in general. Regardless of how well you did. There were about 64 priors who got accepted to the LEAD program for the class of 2022-2023. Of the 64 I believe 56 of us went to the prep school for the class of 2023. The rest (8ish) went direct...

According to the conversion chart I was looking at your ACT's are low but not "that" low (I referenced my own SAT scores which were a 1250). I know people here who got accepted with a score like that. Your counselor might not know your prior-enlisted. In general, its impossible to apply for the...
