    Issued Items

HB2011, I recall from an older post that you are female, so I'm guessing that your question re. what exactly is issued to plebes may also extend to personal items for females. I cannot help you on this as I have a plebe son, but perhaps someone else with a daughter, or a current female mid can...

    STEM

Son received his acceptance letter yesterday (April 30), here in GA. He is going into 11th grade and this was the first time he had applied. We didn't think he would get in because we live in a highly competitive area of GA, and his older brother is a Plebe (almost Plebe No More!!). However, he...

    Parking on I-Day

As others have said, it depends on your family. We are a family of 5 and chose to stay at the Residence Inn for both I-Day and PPW. This was a good fit for us because we had a 2 bedroom suite, including breakfast (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a separate sitting room - with a sleeper coach - and a...

    2015 USNA Appointments

We bought the Class of 2014 white t-shirt on I-day and then really liked the gray Class of 2014, the Mid Store had for sale during PPW and purchased that one as well. My younger son compared the two and found that there were already a few names deleted on the second one purchased - I guess those...

    Summer Seminar News?

Two years ago my son applied the day it opened and he received his acceptance letter in the first week of April. At that time, I had just discovered this forum and the first people only reported receiving acceptance letters starting around mid/late March. From everything I've read about USAFA...

    President's Day Weekend - overnight(s)?

Fishbowl - my DS (also a Plebe) called yesterday and shared the same information that mumsyto3 heard from her DS. My mid was quite certain that it has been granted to everyone, not on a company basis. Overnight liberty this Saturday night, and 2 nights overnight liberty (Sat. & Sun.) on...

    No Eye Disqualification?

The vision requirements for USNA changed earlier in 2010. It used to be +/- 6 and now it is +/- 8, the same as for USAFA and USMA. See this thread, and note Mr. Mullen's comment in post #5. http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=14874 "Effective 28 Apr 2010, that is no longer...

    Class of 2014 Profile

When looking at the numbers, don't forget that some candidates/appointees received 2 or 3 nominations and others received one. It seems that the nominations number being quoted (in Class of 2014 profile) is the total number of nominations given, not the number of individuals who received one or...

medically qualified here but not there?

Wow! So if I understand you correctly, Mr. Mullen, you are saying that it is now the same limit of +/-8 for all the services? If so, is my son's vision waiver for USNA Class of 2014 now more of a non-issue? Will his myopia of just over the old limit of -6 still have a bearing on his service...

medically qualified here but not there?

Myopia limits also differ between the services. For Sea Services the limit is -6 and for others it is -8. My son's myopia is just over -6 so he qualified medically for USMA, but needed a waiver for USNA (these are very hard to get and he was fortunate to be granted one). There are a number of...

    Boards

I received an email from my Plebe saying they have spent most of this week cleaning, because other companies have been destroying their deck. He also said that nine of their boards have been ripped by other companies..... so I guess they'll have to remake all of those. Just when we thought the...

    Portal question

Send an email to your Regional Director at USNA explaining the situation. The RDs are incredibly helpful and I remember that when my son had a similar issue last year, the RD was able to clear the field and then my son entered the correct details for the contact person.
