DS portal was updated this morning to "non select". I guess it's true about the big wave of TWE's. Not sure if everyone gets the same generic statement, but the letter recommends Calculus, which my son did not take in high school, and also retaking SAT's. He does plan to retake the SAT so he can...
Still waiting for Concorde to update my DS's medical in the system. They said it could take up to 2 weeks or more before the Academy processes and updates the portal. That makes me nervous knowing appointee tours are in progress. Also discouraged reading Patriot23's post. My DS's scores are no...
Update: My DS completed his medical exam today. However, they said it could take up to 2 weeks to process. That's cutting it real close! I looked back at last year's thread for class of 2022. I saw appointments still being made up to 5/13 (my birthday), which was encouraging. Also, someone...
Is it true they don't decline any candidates? It seems I read you get an appointment or offered prep school. I'm not completely sure. I also wonder if prep school is tuition free, and do you still have to reapply.
I finally got through to my DS's counselor at USAFA. She said we don't have an appointment because we didn't complete the medical exam. I explained that we didn't do the exam because we never heard back from our Congress about the nomination. So I figured my DS didn't have a chance, and what's...
I hope it's ok to ask a question in this thread. My DS has not received an appointment. We never heard back from our local Congress about the nomination. I see some people have received "direct appointment" and "presidential". Is it too late to request either of these? His application portal...
My DS also won a 3 year AD scholarship with Amy ROTC. Is it true that cadets who make a good impression can get upgraded to 3.5 years by 2nd semester? That would help tremendously! We are also OOS. Not aware of the $90k figure. Was told we qualify for OOS grant of $25k (maybe based on EFC)...
Hello, I am new to the thread. What does DS mean? Also, can my son be DQ'd for being legally blind without correction? He has an appointment for a vision exam and they want his contacts out for 3 days prior.
From my understanding, all students must participate in ROTC regardless of scholarship. The money is to help with tuition. It has nothing to do with commissioning. If you don't need the scholarship, there is no commitment to serve, but the option is still there.
