Extension of scholarship benefits - AROTC

Yes, he has stated conversation with ROO first, then PMS as well. Agree- definitely he needs to align a plan with academic advisors. The reason why I stated "his credit was not lost" was that his new major requires 6 more units to graduate (i.e., 120 vs. 126) and he's not able to complete that...

How much does school preference effect scholarship chances

FYI- Don't count on merit-based from UCs when you plan for college finances: UCB/UCSD offers $2500 for Regent's scholarship. $2k for UCLA. It's for residents. I'd assume it'd be more strict to non-resident. BUT, for need-based, it could cover 100%, and more, if you're a resident and meet...

Extension of scholarship benefits - AROTC

My DS got 3yr campus-based scholarship and has transferred to a school in a different brigade (scholarship got transferred). Now, he needs additional year to graduate due to misinterpretation/miscalculation of the graduation requirements. He has started a communication with PMS already...

    Deferring a 3year AROTC scholarship?

Here's a situation I know of at one west coast school. If Cadet is at home or out of area, they allow cadet to contact local school which offers ROTC program and participate PT there.

Re-Applying for NROTC scholarship After Gap Year

I understand that @kinnem has been really valuable for this community and has been provided very informative feedback. However, This is a completely ignorant comment, plain ill-advised. This is the reason why, we, US is experiencing the worst pandemic among the world. Original poster should...

    AROTC Transfer Process Post-Enrollment

How was 104-R prepared at the gaining school? (requires signatures from both academic advisor and PMS) We are facing issues that 1) At gaining school, academic advisor is not assigned for transfer student yet 2) final transfer credit will not be assessed until the end of June (estimated...

Desperate parent with a contracting ?

what? 278 is not a bad score??? you must be joking. Let us set the fact straight. 278 (out of 300) for 1st and 2nd yr cadet is an excellent score! no cadre will complain for 278 for 2nd yr cadet. period.

Campus based scholarship and transfer after Sophomore year

First and foremost, thanks for the informative comments and constructive feedback. DS is not just staying for another year. Transfer application process takes time and some college takes fall transfer only. He just started to contemplate. Without elaborating, he felt college A does not provide...

Campus based scholarship and transfer after Sophomore year

That's exactly my point. Basically, everything becomes moot point unless DS is accepted at college B (or C). This is the biggest uncertainty to move forward.

Campus based scholarship and transfer after Sophomore year

I have read from somewhere stating that national awardee and campus-based awardee are treated differently when it comes to transfer. is it a misunderstanding? This is the pre-req. for everything which is not a gimme for competitive schools.

Campus based scholarship and transfer after Sophomore year

That is good to know. I did not know it is Army's choice. Yes. He is fully aware of it. Additional uncertainty make things more difficult. well... this is life: compromise and try to be at a position with options. @Jcleppe Thanks for the great answers.

Campus based scholarship and transfer after Sophomore year

DS is a freshman at a college A and recently awarded 3-yr campus-based AROTC scholarship. It is my understanding that the scholarship kicks in on the first day of coming fall when he signs the contract. DS is excited about the opportunity. At the same time, he is having a second thought about...

3 Year Advaned Designee Scholarship the same as a Campus Based Scholarship ? ? ? ?

I am curious to know how it panned out. I am under the impression that if gaining school's tuition is significantly higher, it will be re-evaluated dependent upon funding availability at Brigade level.

    Room and Board

True, if you meant R&B offer based on merit, i.e. AFROTC scholarship. However, it is NOT true in a sense of 100% meet policy. MIT will provide R&B, if a family demonstrate their needs. This policy is applicable for every admits, not just ROTC scholarship awardee. example #1: MIT COA : $73,160...

    Room and Board

MIT and Stanford meet 100% demonstrated needs, so room and board could be covered if your family situation meets their criteria. Keep that in mind though, it is need-based, not merit. BTW, CMU does not meet 100% needs (as of school year 2018-19).

    AROTC scholarship questions

Two Basic Questions: 1) when he was awarded 3yr campus-based scholarship, any official award letter came along, like national scholarship process? 2) I understand that 3.5yr upgrade is based upon fund availability, etc... is there any process triggers the upgrade? or completely depending on...

Thoughts on the selection process for ROTC

We want a military leader to be a balanced person, not just physically stronger who can transform to just be a battlefield warrior. With the current era of inflated GPA, 2.5-3.0 GPA simply would not cut it. It is well well below median. I am fully understood that GPA does not equate to...
